About this product

Product Information

Here, in his own words, is the story of one of the greatest wrestlers ever-Rowdy Roddy Piper. The bagpipe-playing legend gets down and dirty about the world of professional wrestling-and his own career. He takes readers back to his life as a teenage runaway and his first match, when he stepped into the ring for $25. He recalls his triumph as the youngest World Light Heavyweight Champion, and how he helped make the World Wrestling Federation the phenomenon it is today with little more than a microphone stand and a bow tie. From a man who joined the game long before it emerged as big-time entertainment comes a story that tells it like it is-and that's filled with as much excitement as the jam-packed arenas where he fought his fiercest foes.

In The Pit With Piper Book

If you are a fan of Rowdy Roddy Piper I highly recommend this book. It is a great read.

  • All Cherry, No Pits

While at times one has to wonder about the veracity of Piper's assertions (in fact, many of them are outright contradicted by multiple sources), this is easily the most-entertaining and, in some ways, illuminating book I've read about the business. Piper's allegiance to his fellow wrestlers is actually touching, as are his calls for better drug testing, health care, and a wrestlers' union. He also has a way of telling a story which holds one completely enraptured, and often in gales of laughter as well. There's no wonder why this man was one of the best interviews in the industry for so long. So, if you're looking for great stories from a truly charismatic and likeable fellow, this one's for you. If you want the actual history of the biz, so get Lou Thesz's "Hooker." (That is, if you can ...

  • Must Read

If you’re a fan of 1980’s wrestling - then this book is for you! Rowdy Roddy Piper was a master of the squared circle and a family man who wanted his own kids to have what he missed - a loving, and understanding father!

  • Great 'rasslin book.

Roddy Piper tells it like it is! Way better than Mick Foley's book "Mankind".
