    British Television At Its Best

    The series has excellent story lines. I find the the Richard Griffiths character vacillating between being a detective and displaying his culinary passion very entertaining. Each additional character adds to the charm of this series; even his superior, ACC Fisher, who I find annoying. Pie In The Sky is a definite winner!

    A FAVORITE ENGLISH MYSTERY SERIES. WORTH KEEPING AND VIEWING AGAIN.

    A gentle English mystery and food series with two wonderful actors, Richard Griffiths and Maggie Steed, playing husband and wife, Griffiths being a policeman and chef, Steed his accountant wife. Their relationship and the staff of their restaurant form a enjoyable ensemble. This series is thankfully free of excess violence, until Series 4 pops up. Jolting and not worth viewing. I nearly threw the discs in the bin. Series 5 redeems itself. The writing returns to its familiar pattern and we can love this series all over again.

    RE: You will need a snack to watch this DVD!

    I was really surprised in the series so far. The main character seems like an ordinary Joe, in the UK, that is. He has a passion for cooking, top-notch "Steak & Kidney Pie", that he can "buy & sell" most of his friends, and associates on having when one needs to entertain! The humor is British dry humor with morality, fairness and quirky characters. This is before cell phones (can you ever imagine??) in the 80's..even the language is one where the family can watch it with you. I was surprised by that. It is a drama mixed with comedy..similar to the style of the series "Monk"..No OCD here. His boss, Freddy Fisher, can't do without Detective Crabbe to help him "save face"...and solve the crime..almost effortlessly in comparison. I look forward to the other series. It should have had a longer ...

    Henry Crabb is an engaging person and this is a wonderful mystery. No bloody bodies and just the right touch of humor. Great series!
