About this product

Product Information

ZANAC is a vertically scrolling shoot-'em-up game that was released in November 1986. Take control of the state-of-the-art fighter, ZANAC, with the objective of destroying the bases of the mechanized enemy forces. Use your full array of regular weapons as well as eight special weapons to clear the 12 intense areas of the game. Be careful, though, as the game changes the degree of difficulty in real time based on how well you play. This ensures that it feels like you're experiencing a new game every time you play.

    Zanac stands out from other SHMUPS!

    Ready for a shoot'em up that is different from all the rest? How about one that has artificial intelligence? This game is hard. It plays and adjusts itself according to your skills. And depending on the weapons you are using it will throw different kinds of enemies at you. The unpredictability of the enemies creates an awesome challenge, there are no patterns to memorize. It plays different every time you have a go at it. The control is perfect and you will keep coming back for more. And when you get to an area boss, you have a time limit to defeat it. If you fail defeating it within the time limit, you cannot enter the next level. Zanac is a vertical scrolling arcade type shooter with a gameplay that can become frantic real fast. The graphics are simple but good with a nice musical score. ...

    Great shoot em' up

    Classic shoot em'up right here. Enemies are randomly generated, so it is a never the same game twice. Terrific replay value. The graphics are simple in still pictures, but the amount of sprites and movable objects on screen is just astonishing. Compile really knew how to push the Nes CPU to its limits. Wow!
