This CD features live concert performances by the roots music artists from the soundtrack of the movie "O Brother, Where Art Thou". The drawback is that the album only features 12 tracks, not all of the tracks that were featured in the "Down From The Mountain" concert movie. What's here is great, but it would be nice if they would issue a 2 CD deluxe edition, like they did for the soundtrack.l

  • It's classic ! How can you go wrong with the artists who also sang songs from the movie, "Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou?"

I knew the music on the CD from another source ( old VHS). Am very pleased with the sound quality, and the price point.

  • FANTASTIC!

If you liked the music in "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" you'll LOVE the music of "Down From the Mountain". It's toe-tapping, mood-lifting music that reminds us that no matter how difficult circumstances may become, music can restore the soul. Dan Tyminski performs two equally addicting songs (sometimes credited as "Union Station") to the hit from "O Brother," "I am a Man of Constant Sorrow" (which is not featured on this album.) Most of the music, if not genuine to the period in question (America's Great Depression, around 1937) was written by the performing artists, lending their sound a honest rendering not often heard by those performing someone else's inspiration. While thumbing through the fascinating CD insert you'll recognize faces from the movie and read interesting movie ...

  • If you liked the soundtrack for the movie ...

Think of this CD as a "sister" companion to the soundtrack for "O Brother, Where Art Thou?". Now we all know that for some reason that soundtrack enjoyed huge commercial success with very little airplay ... and that's because the music on that CD was sooo good. Well, here are some additional music by the same artists ... and they do not disappoint. Being a "live" performance you will listen to the applause at the end of each song and that makes you enjoy this CD even more ... you get the feeling that you are welcomed and that you belong.
