About this product

Product Information

In this remake and updated version of the 1965 THUNDERBALL, James Bond, who has been primarily teaching for the last few years, is quite happily yanked out of semiretirement to deal with the deadly SPECTRE organization's newest plan for the destruction of the planet. (The Bond story line mimics Sean Connery's semiretirement from the role, which he had last played in 1971's DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER.) Agent Number 2, also known as Maximilian Largo (Klaus Maria Brandauer), has managed to steal two cruise missiles armed with nuclear warheads, and Agent Number 1, Blofeld (Max von Sydow), has threatened to explode them in areas with large populations if a huge, and almost impossible, ransom demand from the NATO countries is not met. The film features an excellent gaming battle between Largo and Bond, as well as stunning turns by Barbara Carrera and Kim Basinger.

    Connery's back!

Sean Connery's reprised role as James Bond is perfect to add to your collection. We're looking at 54 years for the James Bond Franchise. They must be doing something right to last that long. Connery was the first. The movie came quickly and in great shape!

  • The Best Connery/Bond Film of All

I was never a Sean Connery fan of the series. (I grew up watching Roger Moore). However, it's like Connery saved "his best, for last". This was the best Bond film I ever watched. While it's not considered canon, I think it's Connery's best work. It's too bad this was his last 007 film. I felt he hit his best stride in this film. Because it was not a EON/United Artists film, it feels different from the rest of the films. But, it's a difference that's refreshing. For some reason, this film has a fresh feel to the series. It's too bad Connery didn't return, because he made this the best. Of course, this film would have fallen into the true definition of franchise. "The owner of the product or trademark, licenses the name to others; in return for a royalty fee." To see a character made by ...

  • A High Budget Excellent Bond Spoof.

This movie was Waner Brothers Idea to make Bond A comedy movie. They did an exceptional job, including a lot of action scenes. I gave it a 4, even though I thought it was funny, and the action was out of this world, I still don't think a Bond movie should make some one laugh a lot. There are comedies, and then there are action movies. Keep the comedy out of bond, and keep the action out of I Love Lucy. I still recomend this film to all of the Sean Connery Fans, because this was his last attempt at playing Bond, until the Video game From Russia With Love came out.

  • Never Say Never Again - And then there's Connery

After a 12-year hiatus, Sean Connery is back in action as James Bond. The new entry marks something of a retreat from the far-fetched technology of many of the later Bonds in favor of intrigue and romance. Although it is not acknowledged as such, pic is roughly a remake of the 1965 Thunderball. World-threatening organization SPECTRE manages to steal two US cruise missiles and announces it will detonate their nuclear warheads in strategic areas unless their outrageous ransom demands are met. In short order, Bond hooks up with dangerous SPECTRE agent Fatima Blush (Barbara Carrera), who makes several interesting attempts to kill her prey, and later makes the acquaintance of Domino (Kim Basinger), g.f. of SPECTRE kingpin Largo (Klaus Maria Brandauer), who enjoys the challenge presented by the ...

  • Weak 007 Entry

A so-so remake of Thunderball. I see this as the weakest of the Sean Connery entries into the James Bond series. Not seeing the movie yet I had to have it to complete my collection. Also, I found the music score completely lacking of the 007 theme music. Rewatchability? Probably not.
