About this product

Product Information

The fighting game series' first true sequel in three console generations, Street Fighter IV re-creates the classic characters, settings, and time-tested 2D fighting mechanics, at resolutions and frame rates that make use of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 potential. Favorite characters and backdrops, once depicted in 16-bit pixels, appear as colorful, hand-drawn illustrations brought to life in full, fluid 3D. The game introduces a slew of new special attacks, but the series' basic moves are at the heart of the six-button control scheme. A challenging new Focus Attack system can allow a low-health fighter to absorb an attack and then unleash a powerful counterattack, strong enough to grab an unexpected victory with a last-moment turnaround.

Street Fighter IV follows Street Fighter II in the series narrative, taking place before the events of Street Fighter III. Over two dozen characters are available for play, including core heroes and villains from Street Fighter II such as Ryu, Ken, Chun-li, and M. Bison. There are also series newcomers, such as Gouken, the trainer of Ryu and Ken, C. Viper, a government agent with moves as tight as her uniform, and the weapons master Seth, who can use the special moves of other characters. Home versions of Street Fighter IV also feature characters not in the arcade version of the game, including Fie Long, Dan, Gen, and Cammy, who won the most fan votes in an online poll, prior to the game's U.S. release.

Great game that challenges all players

The game itself is great. It has multiple modes and a variety of characters. Beware all button mashing players, that won't work in this game, you need to know the moves for your playable character. Overall a great game, however my only complaint is the command list for each character does not have specific buttons listed in association with the controller. It's kind of a bummer and you have to almost discover the moves with hints rather than clear directions.

  • Hadokeeen!

Who knows really not Street Fighter? Who has never been a karate champion on his screen "Hadokeeen" call heard? Actually, nobody counts ...;-) The Street Fighter series, since the pioneering second part to build an incredible fan base, especially the developers has remained very loyal. I have looked at before buying the game honestly a little worried. The picture I saw in videos and pictures to somehow bulky and Street Fighter I had previously always been a little slow in comparison to more modern beat 'em ups like Dead or Alive. Now that I have the game, I see not much different, except for the fact that I know that the game but the purchase was something of value. For graphics, we can say that this really looks very nice, even if it is first of all getting used to. The characters are all ...

  • Street Fighter IV Review (via AchieveCommunity)

Street Fighter is the series that started it all in the fighting game genre' and it shows in Street Fighter IV. They went back to their roots in a good way. The game plays like classic Street Fighter II but with major graphical improvements and so new twist to add to its already paced and somewhat advanced fighting gameplay. Any street fighter fan will LOVE this game. If you are used to the new street fighters and the perks from the Alpha series then this will take some getting used to. No more air blocking! My only complaint with this game is the online mode. Don't get me wrong its great to play online with minimal lag but the lack of any spectator or multiplayer lobby means you spend more time searching and trying to join a room before it fills up then you do fighting, rooms fill up fast ...

  • Classic made better

Street fighter 4 should be called Street fighter 2.5. I'm not saying that as a bad thing. I'm saying it as a great thing. Street fighter 2 revolutionized the fighting game. Have there been better fighting games since, yes. But not by much. The fighting style of SF 2 plus better smoother grafix makes this one of the best fighting games out there. It has all of the classic characters and some new ones that are more comic relief than substance for the game. The backgrounds are really good, although I really miss the rest of the classic backgrounds like Guil's airstrip and Ken's boat yard. My only other problem is that the special moves are hard to do at first. That's a complaint I hear allot. But it took me about two hours to get it down. Once you get it, you never forget it. This game is ...
