Sharp and beautiful Bokeh (out of focus part is lovely foggy)

Extremely sharp at 1.4, great for 13 x 19 prints, Bokeh is lovely, almost as good (98% as good) as the 58mm 1.4G and as the 85 1.4G! I took some outdor shoots in the woods at f/1.4 and you get sharpnes and lovely veiled out out of focus immdiate backgrounds! Artistic. Heavier but well woth it. (My 35 1.8G is almost as sharp, lighter, but does not have the Bokeh of this one at f/1.4. I prefer carrying this one because I love the results at f/1.4!

  • Stunning quality. Great value for money.

I purchased this lens for my Canon 450d (XSi) and wanted a normal focal length prime lens on my crop frame body. There is no other lens with this aperture and focal length for this price that has decent quality. This works very well in low light and is extremely sharp from f/2.0-8.0. At f/1.4 its a bit dreamy, but you may like that quality and it does well in a pinch. The only downside is that I had to purchase an adapter (make sure it has an AF confirm chip/programmable). It is soft at f/1.4 and exhibits purple fringing at f/1.4-2.0 (2.0 is negligible). Manual focusing takes some getting used to but is really rather easy once you get the hang of it. All in all, I'd say that it was worth every penny I paid for it and is a great alternative to the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4 and Samyang 35mm ...

  • Superb lens, expensive but worth every penny

Magnificent lens, superb sharpness, even wide open. As a photographer, I have owned more than 40 Nikon lenses over the past 40 years and this is easily one of the best. it is a little bigger and heavier than my older manual focus version.

  • Great lens!

Not as sharp as the Sigma 35 ART 1.4 but excessively more reliable when it comes to autofocus accuracy. I love the contrast this lens creates and the colors are amazing as well! Pros: Fast autofocus Accurate autofocus Beautiful rendering Acceptably sharp wide open Cons: Price Chromatic Aberration (can easily be fixed in post)

  • Best 35mm lens I've ever used.

Very sharp lens that's excellent for isolating subjects against an out-of-focus background. Great for people pictures. Somewhat heavy, and I won't use it wide open for every shot -- but the large maximum aperture comes in handy at times. If your budget won't stretch to include this very expensive lens, the 1.8G version is almost as good and costs less than half as much. I've used both, and they're both excellent.
