About this product

Product Information

Otto (Emilio Estevez) is a Los Angeles punk, a loser with no direction and no role models. But he discovers a code of honor and higher purpose when he joins a select group of latter-day knights: the repo men. As a fledging apprentice, Otto slowly learns the ways of these high-caliber, overmedicated auto repossessors. And when a $20,000 bounty is placed on a mysterious missing car, Otto eludes the police, feds, religious cultists, and other repo men in a frantic search for this holy grail. Could one man's destiny lie in the back of a 1964 Chevy Malibu? Alex Cox's feature-film debut boasts a clever, satirical script that combines the larger-than-life edginess of urban L.A. with a bizarre array of science-fiction conspiracy theories. The film also features a strong soundtrack by an array of early 1980s punk and new wave bands and a terrific lead performance by Estevez.

Item shipped at 6 days, so a small delay there. However, when the item was lost by the USPS for 2 weeks, the seller was quite responsive and offered to help as well as refund if not found. The extra effort was appreciated and the item is in great condition for a great price. I felt valued by this seller. Would buy again!

    Memory Maker

I remember this movie from my younger crazy days. There's a couple of quotes, one in particular about John Wayne, that I've been known to say. Bought the movie so my husband could see it (he'd never heard of it) and also to bring back memories.

  • A True Cult Classic In Every Sense Of The Term

Life of a repo man is always intense. A classic line from a classic cult movie. The story really makes the movie, but it is nothing without the actors making it come to life. It is not only an inspiring movie to which one would think "There might be something more than just this planet and what we can see". Set in Los Angeles in the early 80s it gives a gritty view of downtown LA at that time. The main character, "Otto" (what, auto parts?*LOL*) a young suburban punk with no real direction in his life finds himself repoing cars after falling into a scheme by a veteran repo man played by Harry Dean Stanton, who truly shines in this movie. Otto does not like repo men and never planned on becoming one, yet when he is handed money it is too late, he is a repo man. The government wants an old ...

  • Repo Man (DVD, 2006)

Otto Maddox (Emilio Estevez), a young punk rocker living in Los Angeles, gets fired from his boring job as a supermarket stock clerk. He learns that his pot-smoking, ex-hippie parents have donated the money they promised him for finishing school to a crooked televangelist. Depressed and broke, Otto wanders the streets, until he falls in with Bud (Harry Dean Stanton), a seasoned repossession agent, or "repo man", working for the "Helping Hand Acceptance Corporation" (a small automobile repossession agency). Although Otto is initially disgusted by the concept of repossessing cars, his opinion changes rapidly when he is quickly paid in cash for his first "job". Otto joins the agency as a repo man himself. Otto soon learns that, as Bud had told him, "the life of a repo man is always intense." ...

  • Fascinating movie. Different and original. Sci-Fi with an unusual spin.

Unique, different movie. Imaginative, creative and very entertaining. Lots of great characters and plenty of action. It's Sci-Fi with a twist.
