Hilarious!
I hate to say it, all you John Waters fans, but this is the first movie he made that I like. Maybe I'm not understanding something, but movies like "Pink Flamingos" hold no interest for me. This one, on the other hand, is a little more mainstream and has more star power. Edward Furlong plays a young photographer discovered by the Art World. For anyone who has ever had ANY contact with the Art World, be sure to see the movie. It's great biting satire about its many inconsistencies, eccentric artists, and ridiculous patrons. The story is rounded out with Pecker's sister, whose addiction to sugar is comparable to that of an addiction to crack; Pecker's sister, who works in a gay bar; his mother, whose resale shop is meant to help the homeless always look ... The movie is quirky in classic John Waters style, but it also holds together well as a story from start to finish. Pecker was overlooked in a lot of circles, but it shouldn't have been. It's a riot.
