Decent effort with the inimitable Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, but enlivened considerably by Jon Pertwee.

A certain rather tacky producer stuck sensationalistic titles on various Amicus films which made them sound worse than they actually were. This is a decent, if unremarkable effort which I purchased in order to watch Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. The peculiar vampire tale featuring Jon Pertwee, however, was the most entertaining. This mildly comic story proved the saving grace of the anthology.

  • The House That Dripped Blood

The House That Dripped Blood has 4 bone chilling, hair raising tales about a house with a secret history. The inspector is called out after the film star went missing mysteriously. The guy who sells houses tries to warn him about the reputation of the house, but goes off to find out what happened. When he arrives he soon finds out that "curiosity kills the cat" when the doom awaits him!! I have to say that I liked the tale about the film star who goes to find a cloak to make him self look good in the film but finds out that the cloak is not what he thinks it is after he turns into a vampire. But at the end his female companion tries it on and, well lets just say that he had it coming.

  • Don't Be Fooled By The Title, This Movie ROX!

Wow How I love Old School horror, and this one is a winner. This is a movie that has the classic horror actors Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing at there best. The other actors I am not to familiar with. I saw this movie on UTube and like it so well I bought it. It is a movie based on 4 short stories with one revolving and the other three. One of them is kind of a comedy, so there is something in this movie for everyone. I can't say there is anything I disliked about the movie. I just wish they still made horror movies like this now a days. Instead they are moronic and just plain lame. I would recommend this to any horror fan, this movie is a guaranteed classic.

  • A great old horror film with a bit of comedy added in.

I bought this DVD mainly for its cast, which is really good. It stars Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Denholm Elliot, and Ingrid Pitt. Though you would think this is a Hammer film, it is not, it was done buy Amicus Productions in 1970. It is really four short stories and a wraparound story, that ties the four together. It made me think of the movie "Creepshow", which borrowed a lot from this film. I found this movie to be very entertaining, mostly scary, with some comical moments. I would recommend this DVD to fans of the Hammer Films, and fans of classic horror in general.

  • I love camp!

An anthology with 2 gems of the horror genre. It delivers in all its campy glory.
