About this product

Product Information

Enjoy taking high-quality close-up photographs with the Nikon NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4 Ai-S manual-focus camera lens. This has been a staple accessory for professional photojournalism applications for years. In fact, Nikon designed it specifically for use by the press. Its photography uses extend beyond the newspaper, however. Even amateur home photographers will appreciate its wide-angle abilities, low-light capabilities, and the sharp images it produces. You can use this product for capturing both still images and video. The f/1.4 aperture of the 35-millimeter NIKKOR lets you take pictures in low-light conditions. Photographers who do a lot of shooting indoors will appreciate the ability to snap quality images with their digital SLRs without using the flash. At f/1.4, it is wide open. It produces photographs that are sharp in the center, but the contrast fades as you move toward the edges of the image. This hazy quality gives the bokeh effect that photographers are so often looking for. The entire image sharpens up at f/2.0. At f/4.0, you'll really notice the image sharpness. You can adjust the angle of this Nikon NIKKOR up to 62 degrees to take wide-angle photographs. Wide-angle accessories are capable of fitting more in your frame. This is useful when taking panoramic group photographs or landscapes. Wide-angle lenses are also useful for really drawing attention to the subject of your photo. Get up close to your subject with these lenses, and it will be exaggerated while the background is minimized in comparison. This composition will add interest and drama to your photographs.Close-up photos are no problem for this Nikon accessory. It features Nikon's Close-Range Correction technology. CRC results in a clear image even when you shoot the photo at a close range. The minimum focus distance is 11.81 inches. The Nikon NIKKOR 35mm F/1.4 Ai-S features nine elements and seven groups. This means that you can achieve different styles of images by adjusting the NIKKOR lens. It is multicoated to reduce distortion in images. Technology advances in lens construction help improve the optics of this device. They reduce coma aberrations in your images. You will notice less sagittal coma flare in your photos when you take them with this NIKKOR accessory. The lens also features a 52-millimeter filter to keep distortion-causing dust out of the inner workings of the lens. The 35-millimeter f/1.4 is one of the fastest manual lenses available from Nikon for wide-angle use. This is a fixed focal length lens. Though this is an FX device for 35-millimeter cameras, it will also work with both FX and DX Nikon cameras as long as the DX has a 52.5-millimeter equivalent focal length. Other specifications include a seven-blade diaphragm, an all-metal design, and a minimum aperture of f/16. It uses an F-mount to attach to your DSLR camera. The screw-on filter has a thread size of 52 millimeters. The dimensions of this Nikon product are 2.7 inches by 2.4 inches, and it has a weight of about 14.1 ounces. Take great close-ups and wide-angle pictures with this Nikon lens.

    Nikkor 35mm f/1.4 Ai-s Great lens!

This lens is so good that Nikon still produces and sells it brand new to this date. I always wanted to have this lens. It is famous worldwide amongst the old school news paper photographers. The first question almost everybody ask today is: Is this lens sharp? There are way more things about a lens than sharpness. It takes time to get to know the "character" of a lens. How does it respond to tone gradation? color rendition? bouquet at different apertures? and so on... This lens at f/1.4 gives this wonderful dreamy looks and an awesome bouquet that no other lens has! if one only wants sharpness it gets there by f/2.0 and downwards. Manual focus is a breeze with all the light it gathers. Of course it is not easy to focus at f/1.4 for the depth of field is so narrow. It takes knowledge and ...

  • Great optics for night and black and white photography

I wanted to have this beautiful wide-angle lens longingly for my photographic experience. The reasons to buy this 40 years old design lens for my Nikon FM3a camera are simple:-I would use it with my manual focus camera as standard lens.-Much better mechanics and high quality construction.-Suitable for night photography.İt gives the speed that I needed for use in low light situations.-Cheaper as compared to AF lenses which are designed for speed on AF cameras and therefore are more expensive.-Great optics which had fine reputation as being one of the best Nikon wide-angle.I call it my jewel and plan to carry it with me for taking nice pictures.

  • One of the Great Nikon vintage lenses

Being an old Nikon shooter, this lens suits my need for a quality manual focus prime lens. This along with my Nikkor 55mm f1.2 lens shooting incredibly sharp images with my Nikon Df is a joy.

  • Super sharp semi-wide angle prime lens after f2

The Nikon Nikkor 35 mm f1.4 Ai-S certainly lives up to its long standing reputation as a real professional quality semi-wide angle prime lens. It is extremely sharp after f2. It is one of the sharpest lenses I have ever used and owned. When the aperture is set at f1.4, it is somewhat soft. Since I hardly shoot at f1.4, it is not an issue for me. If you need a crisp and clear image, then this fine lens should be in your camera bag at all times. Compared to the other lenses of equivalent focal length and aperture made by Leica and Zeiss, this lens is cost effective. I highly recommend it.

  • Very good lens especially in low light conditions

I have a Nikkor AF-S lenses, but for several years I'm looking for manual Nikkor lenses. Especially aperture f 2.8 down for my Nikon FM2n and D700. As new Nikkor lens are more expensive, a good and affordable alternative are Manual old lenses . This lens have a great optical design and are very well made and useful for digital cameras. Till today is posible to get excellent examples of manual lenses. Modern lenses will not last as many years as the good old manual lenses. Think if new lens have a break af-s engine? How much will it cost to repair?
