About this product

    Product Information

Two sci-fi film franchises meld into one in Alien vs. Predator for the Atari Jaguar. A Colonial Marine Training Base has fallen to two unknown alien types, the Aliens and the Predators. The game lets you play as either alien type or as a Colonial Marine.

As the Colonial Marine, your mission is to set the base for self-destruct and get the heck out of Dodge via an escape pod. To achieve your objective, you must collect a number of weapons for use in blasting aliens, and security cards for use in accessing locked rooms. Weapons include a shotgun, a pulse rifle, a flamethrower, and a smart gun. Naturally, the marine is the most vulnerable of the three characters.

When playing as the Alien, you must use your claws, tail and jaws to fight your way through marines and Predators. You can also create other Aliens to help you in your mission to rescue the Alien Queen. You cannot use elevators to move through the sublevels, but you can get around via air ducts. The Alien is the fastest character, but has no long-range weapons.

Instead of rescuing the Alien Queen, the Predator's objective is to have her head on a platter. When controlling this vile, extremely powerful creature, your weapons consist of a wrist blade, a combi stick (spear), a smart disk, and a shoulder cannon. You the game begin armed only with the wrist blade, but you can grab additional weapons by scoring honor points. These types of points are achieved by killing Aliens and Colonial Marines in face-to-face battle. Distance attacks and fighting while invisible are considered less honorable.

One of The Best Games on Atari Jaguar

While more recent games for the Atari Jaguar are better (i.e. Soccer Kid, Protector SE, etc.), Alien vs Predator showcases what Atari's 64-bit system was capable of producing. The gameplay is addictive and fun; the graphics are gorgeous for a Jaguar game; and the sound effects add to the game's overall creepy atmosphere. If you're looking to play a GOOD Atari Jaguar game (and don't mind playing a little more than $20), then Alien vs Predator will be well worth your time and money.

      • The Jaguar's Killer App

I'll make this quick. This is by far the one and only game that all Jaguar owners should have in their collection. It truly shows the power of the system with its stellar graphics and incredible gameplay being able to use marine alien and predator in three separate campaigns. Must own.

      • Not your run of the mill shooter

For fans of the two franchises definitely. I enjoy the fact that you need to pick up clues to find the various keys. Because the aliens are silent, the game can be make you very jumpy at times. I enjoyed this game more than Tempest 2000 or Rayman personally.

      • Great Game, But Too Great A Price?

Arguably the best game on the Atari Jaguar. Not worth the money it's going for, but worth a play for sure.
