About this product

Product Information

Kenseiden is a samurai game set in ancient Japan. Players control Hayato, a swordsman who begins the game with a simple sword and can gain new attack methods after defeating each of the five tough-to-beat warlock bosses. He can acquire more power during training rounds, and he'll be required throughout the game's 16 levels to go left and right, into buildings, and up and down staircases. Conceptually, the game is solid, but it fails to deliver. Control is frustrating, jumps are more like hops, attacks are lacking in power, movement is sluggish, the music is terrible, and the main character looks more like a buccaneer than a samurai. On a more positive note, the enemies are varied and the detailed backgrounds create the proper mood.

I ordered a CIB gameboy game, came exactly as I saw in the photos. Shipping was very quick, and it came extremely well packaged. I’m talking bubble wrap over the game box, put in a box put inside of a padded envelop. Game worked perfectly. :)

  • Classic fun. Super Hard.

Kenseiden is a relatively simple game that turns out to be an epic (for its day) journey. It's hard. Like most 8-bit action platformers, you really have to settle into the controls before you'll feel like you're any good. The graphics here are excellent and I love the styling. The ability to train and power up your character throughout the game was an unexpected bonus as well.

  • Great SMS title

This game is like a mix of castlevania and ninja gaiden, so of course its fun. The game is challenging but not super difficult, definitely a good game to pop in over Halloween!! - Its a good one to have in your game collection.
