Never used beard balm or oil. The oil is good I think. I'll know more after using it for a few days. The beard balm is very stiff. Instructions say use a dime size amount, not possible. You would have to dig it out of the tin with a spoon to get a dime size amount. I thought more like the consistency of a sauve or cream (not so). Very stiff stuff
