Good acting and a great Americana period piece
I have watched this dvd many times and always enjoy it. It's a story about family interaction, the nature of love, living in Montana during the time of WW One and much more. The scenery is gorgeous. The actors fit their parts and are excellent in their roles.

This movie is great but could have a better title
If you like good storytelling with good characters that age through the movie with tragedy and love, this is the movie for you. Plus the cinematography is fantastic! It cries for viewing on a big screen! The first time that I saw it, I did not like this movie. I think that I got confused by all the changes in time and people as it went along. The second time that I saw it, I loved it. The love of the three brothers (Alfred, Tristan, and Samuel) for each other is rare and stands out boldly! The anti-war attitude of the father, William Ludlow (Anthony Hopkins) really meant something since he was a retired Army officer trying to shield his family from the government, prohibition, and red tape. And it is World War I that is the catalyst for the evolution of this story. The lady, ... Otherwise, you will be like me the first time and get lost. This is a story worth your ultimate attention.

There are very few movies like Legends of the Fall. It covers about 25 years or more have a family in Montana. It's a beautiful and wonderful story, some of the best actors alive! Brad Pitt, and not just because he's gorgeous explanation Hawaii Anthony Hopkins is amazing, as is Julia Ormond. But it's such a touching and beautiful story, I can't just sit down and watch it anytime. It makes me weep oh, so I have to be really in the mood to watch it. But I do love it. How Brad Pitt's character forms such a closeness to one stab, Lee Native American, and I just love how Anthony Hopkins character try so hard to help the Native Americans, to no avail. He just gives up. He even writes books. Yes, I got really drawn into the story! I didn't care very much for Henry Thomas's character, that I was ... The brothers go in very different paths in their lives and this provides a very entangle web of many circumstances that drastically affect their lives. I consider this movie one of the great movies that stand with the 10 commandments and and the Godfater.
