        "Best of" but not necessarily the best sound quality for a Kansas compilation

        The 1999 release from Legacy sounds better than the original 1990 release. Yet, in a departure from the usually-reputable Legacy and how they do remasters, the sound is not as good compared to the 2002 compilation release “The Ultimate Kansas.” The latter release is also from Legacy, so it’s curious as to how the two differ in quality. If you’re up for buying used CDs, you’ll not see a big price difference between the single “Best Of” compilation and the double-disc “Ultimate.” The double-disc set has more songs you’re sure to enjoy as well as better sound quality and probably a very competitive price. As with the original CD release and the song “Perfect Lover” which was included solely on that set, the second “Best of” compilation has the song “The Devil Game” which is not on the ...
