Easy enough to assemble. However, the raised portion, which is intended to slot into the base of an Echo Show (2nd gen) was far too wide & thick. This required 20 mins, with a Dremel, grinding the base down, until it was a decent fit. This was for a Ring doorbell, for my mother-in-law, & she was entirely unimpressed with this. I was a touch disappointed, myself, as I had checked that this fit the device for which it was intended, before purchasing it. Needs redesigned, Iād say.

I believe you have inadvertently ordered the stand for the Echo Show 8, which is why it doesn't fit the Echo Show 5 properly.If you would like, I can send you the correct stand for the Echo Show 5 at no additional cost.
