Intel Challenger K1 1 person kayak

For what this is, it CANNOT be beat! This is for the people who want to do paddle sports but cannot lift a heavy canoe on top of car to transport, who want to hike into a nice lake/slow river (I was able to pack it into my 75L pack with the pump, paddle, towels, book, food/drink and had room to spare. Sure, with all that it is heavy, but for hiking a mile or two, it was fine, just make sure your pack fits/sits correctly on your hips.), who don’t have balance or strength to stand up the whole time, and who are not into rushing waters and rapids. The only downside I can come up with (& it’s not even that bad) is some may have trouble getting in/out of it, don’t let that deter you! It is easy to paddle/maneuver, and did well even in somewhat choppy water due to wind. I even took it through ...

  • Top critical review

    Good for calmer waters

It's easy enough to set up and a dream to carry as it's very light compared to traditional kayaks. I discovered that I could use the supplied inflatable triangular pillow under my knees and keep my legs above the front cowl for best comfort while paddling. Clearly the sacrifice with an inflatable vs. traditional is the speed and stability. The inflatable is also more vulnerable to the effects of wind, wave and current - but I did enjoy my time in the more quiescent waters of the salt marshes of Wells Beach Maine. Good option for the price to discover if you want to take the next step in kayaking.

  • good little kayak

i've been wanting a kayak for a while, finally bought this one a couple of weeks ago. reviews say it's small, and it is. i'm 5'6", my knees had to stay bend the entire trip which was not perfect, though not horrible either. but anyone with longer legs than mine would definitely not be happy. the seat back also didn't give much support, so just be ready to use your core muscles. it was easy to pump up with the hand pump it comes with. i felt sturdy in the kayak, it moved smoothly through the water. hopefully i won't have problems with leaks but if i do, there is a little kit that will hopefully patch things up. and everything comes in a handy zip-up bag for storage, that's a nice perk. overall i'm satisfied with this purchase, just with there was a little more leg room.

  • Lightweight, Easily tranportable, quick setup great value!

The kayak is easy to set up and good quality as far as I can tell as of now. I got it all blown and put together within 30 minutes and off I went. I ended up deflating the seat bottom cushion quite a bit as I felt I was riding a bit high for my liking. Easily maneuvered into and out of the water because it is relatively light weight. A couple of my neighbors and their friends saw me out in it and they have regular kayaks and are going to get one of these due to the ease of use and not having to carry it on a rack in the car etc. ...

  • Easy to inflate and very durable!

I weigh 170 lbs and it works great for me. I've taken it to multiple lakes and reservoirs, and it handles wakes from boats pretty well whether you're sideways or take them straight on. I've also taken it down a shallow river and it was great there too. The river was anywhere from 6" to 48" deep, and I knew this beforehand so I removed the fin from the bottom of the kayak so it wouldn't drag and get damaged. Even without the fin the kayak is very nimble and easy to navigate. I dragged on the rocks a few times and there is no damage. Overall I'm very pleased! Minor annoyances: the paddle is a bit short and the buttons which allow you to take it apart are very stiff. It's a bit tricky to get water out of the seat area when you're trying to dry it off and put it away.
