Great transaction. The chuck on my 1945 South Bend 9A lathe was stuck. I realized shortly after buying it. No way to know the last time the lathe was run or when the chuck was last removed. I decided to give the wedge block a chance before trying more invasive (or destructive) solutions. After three days of (a lot of) WD-40 and hitting the chuck with a soft mallet, I was able to remove it. I believe I cracked the wedge in the process but I’m still grateful for this product.

I haven't tried it yet, but it looks simpler than locking in the back gear and safer for the gear too. I have seen on You tube an example of a broken tooth from using this method for removing the chuck. It seems the plastic will break before a gear tooth will. Plus the load is spread over many teeth instead of one.
