    Pilot III is the real deal if Genealogy or Archology is in your field.

    The Garmin Street Pilot III is the most reliable unit I have found to use the older version of Parks and Recreation. The Parks and Recreation software is the only software that shows old paths, old cemetery's, old school houses and such. As a Genealogist this software is most valuable to me. I also like being able to see creeks, train tracks as such that were laid up to 150 years ago. One word of warning. DO NOT LEAVE THE BATTERIES IN THE UNIT. Batteries will corrode and ruin the unit. The unit I bought was so corroded that after cleaning it would not work. I love this the two working two I have and buy them up when the price is right. The recording source is a special storage chip made my Garmin but is reasonable. Maximum storage in 256 mg or about everything in two states.

    I love this thing!

    I use it on my boat, and I have the inland lakes and waterways card. So much cheaper than the chart plotters, and I am every bit as satisfied. Probably too old for use on roads though.
