About this product

Product Information

The sequel to 2009's arcade-style flight combat game, H.A.W.X. 2 has you piloting advanced fighter jets and other experimental aircraft while engaging in dogfights, embarking on nighttime bombing runs, and deploying UAVs to track targets. New to this version is the ability to take off and land on bases and carriers as well as refuel in mid-flight. Missions take place in Moscow, the Persian Gulf, the Arctic Circle, and the Indian Ocean. In an attempt to make each locale visually authentic, the developers used high-resolution satellite imagery to reconstruct the environments.

As part of an elite squadron specializing in black ops and surgical interventions, you'll follow the perspectives of pilots from three forces: American, British, and Russian. Among the featured aircraft are the F-22 Raptor, F-35 Lightning II, Su-37 Terminator, Eurofighter Typhoon, F-117 Nighthawk, F-14A Tomcat, and the AC-130U Spooky. UAVs can also be flown to identify enemies, record conversations, and perform similar surveillance operations. While progressing through the campaign, you'll fly over mountains, deserts, coastal regions, and actual cities to complete mission objectives.

    Not bad arcade flying game

The game was not bad and considering how old it is it does the job once your actually flying.

  • Not bad...but with glaring problems, when compared to the superior orginal

What a disappointment...sort of. This is actually a really good game, it really is. It has a great story and an interesting 'back and forth' between playable characters from the US, Russia and the UK. But the problems are very noticable, as well. First off, the new "realness" (that is, the flight experience on the game compared to 'real world' flying) is perhaps too real. One cannot make sharp turns in the air without stalling out, forcing you to stop everything and get your plane flying again (or you will slam into the ground), for instance. This sequel also has the player doing long, and VERY boring, mid-flight refueling and landing procedures. Perhaps this is more 'real'...but the point of a video game is supposed to be to amplify the 'real' world to the point where it is constantly ...

  • Novice top guns = cannon fodder on HAWX 2.

Like: Variety of jets when unlocked. Game presentation (layout & events) keeps things interesting. Dislike: Dogfights are loop-dee-loop affairs of dodging missiles. I got blown away by veteran pilots & computer opponents too easily & often for my taste. I bought this game looking to get into the world of dogfighting aerial combat. I found it... but it's not as exciting as I wanted it to be. I was often dodging heat-seeking missiles for minutes at a time. Veteran gamers of this series always evaded my lock-on so I never shot anyone down. Computer opponents were the same. I'd be having fun still if the sound effects were more wild & loud... instead I got a constant droning engine sound & missiles that were quiet when fired. (?) What happened to the screaming sounds of air combat? ...

  • Good Arcade, Not a Simulator

Firstly, the thing that drew me into HAWX 2 was the realistic stuff like taking off/landing on carriers and runways. Also refueling in mid-air. The things that became frustrating if you use the "computer assisted" flying to dog fight is kinda tough at the end. When disengaging that it becomes a little hard to fly, but instead of doing a barrel roll you can brake and almost do a 180 degree turn with no repercussions. I did have a fun time with this title and there is a lot of end game stuff like Multiplayer and arcade missions. Although there are really good people on multiplayer so do not expect to be powning newbs.
