About this product

Product Information

This is NOT your father's home repair book And it's not your husband's, your brother's, your boyfriend's, or the guy's next door. Dare to Repair is a do-it-herself book for every woman who would rather be self-reliant than rely on a super or contractor. No matter the depth of your pockets or the size of your home, a toilet will get clogged, a circuit breaker will trip, and a smoke detector will stop working. It's up to you how you'll deal with them -- live in denial, pay the piper, or get real and do it yourself. Dare to Repair demystifies these home repairs by providing information that other books leave out. In Dare to Repair, you'll learn how to: Take the plunge -- from fixing a leaky faucet to cleaning the gutters. Lighten up -- from removing a broken light bulb to installing a dimmer switch. Keep your cool -- from maintaining a refrigerator's gasket to changing the rotation of a ceiling fan. Get a handle on it -- from replacing a doorknob to repairing a broken window. Play it safe -- from planning a fire escape route to installing a smoke detector. Filled with detailed illustrations, Dare to Repair provides even the most repair-challenged woman with the ability to successfully fix things around the home. Once you start, you won't want to stop.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER - YOU’VE BEEN WARNED! Claimed that they shipped the item but the tracking stated that the item was never picked up, the seller never shipped the item, I waited a month and they continued to lie saying that it was shipped. BEWARE!!

Money-saving, easy-to-follow instructions for basic home repair.

This is a great book that offers easy-to-understand instructions for fixing many basic problems around the home. It has some good diagrams, and I really like the "Tools Needed" section that's included for every task. I have very few tools, so this helps me decide with just a glance whether or not it's a project I can take on with what I have, whether I might be able to borrow a tool from a friend, or if the project requires lots of tools that I don't own (which means call a repairman). It also includes some light humor, which is refreshing if you're tackling a frustrating task. The only downside is that it's an older book, so it doesn't include info on some of the newest types of fixtures and/or appliances. But it's great for most of the basics, and since I own a condo built many ...

You can definitely save lots of money by learning to do these jobs on your own!

  • Comprehensive, stream-lined, easy to follow, great illustrations.

Everyone should have this reference book. Great pictures and step-by-step instructions on fixing all kinds of household nuisance problems without trying to impress you with fancy tools and terms. Just the facts, ma'am! Guys too absolutely. Get over the myth that being male gives a person innate abilities to understand and repair everything, a mistake that frequently leads to higher costs.

  • Every woman should own one

I bought this book a few years back so I can do some repairs around my apt. My husband is not handy at all, so it is all on me. I love this book. I comes in so handy, I can't tell you how many times I've used this book over the years. My sister, who is divorced w/ 3 kids at home, was complaining one day to me about the work that needs to be done around the house & she had no money to hire & did not know how to do the repairs herself. So I bought her this book. She loves it! She still needs to hire someone to do her roof, but with the money she is saving on the DIY fix its, she'll have enough money to have her roof repaired in no time. Every woman should have this book on their shelf. I keep mine with the cookbooks, so I always know where it is.
