Built like a tank. Will work for 100 years.
The Type II (a.k.a. "battleship") variant of the IBM Model M M122 keyboard, made in the late 80s is an immortal classic among mechanical keyboard enthusiasts. It is a noticeably heavier and sturdier than the later types made in the early 90s. With the exception of its original plastic rivets keeping the steel backplate and barrel plate together, which typically need to be replaced with screws or bolts after a few decades (a modification that the community has mastered), this is keyboard that can easily remain in service for another 50 years. All its parts are serviceable and maintainable. The keycaps can be moved around for maximum customizability. It is an IBM Model M keyboard... a design that, according to many, is the best keyboard ever made. Used with a so-called Soarer's converter it ... The Type II (a.k.a.
