  • My favorite w/ Ian Gillan on vocals Purple

I love every track on this from the beginning with the heavy synthesizer and awesome guitar of "Highway Star" to the end of the eternal jam "Space Truckin'" this cd rocks! This is by far my favorite early Deep Purple release w/ Ian Gillan on vocals. And even though FM radio almost killed "Smoke On The Water" by playing it way too much I still even enjoy hearing it. The band was at their peak here but right after this they lost Ritchie Blackmore who went on to form another fine band named Rainbow (you should look them up too).

  • Machine Head - A 70's all-time Classic!

I grew up listening to this album and my mother hated Smoke on the Water which got continuous air play. A great all time classic with the great hit "Smoke on the water" and Space Truckin. These two songs I love the best! But the overall cd is excellent! Great Rockin music and the original 70's line-up of Deep Purple. Blackmore left after the Made in Japan album was released. But overall this is a great classic rock cd and well worth the money! Crazychefjoe

  • Killer..just like the vinyl..not as good as concert but still a MUST HAVE!

Great CD. Just like my album I had when I was a young(er) girl, but better as it's cleaner. Saw Deep Purple in San Francisco in early 70's and played this album constant. The nice thing about this CD is it's exact as the album, so for you buyers looking to put the CD in and hear the songs as they sounded from your youthful days, this is it. No extras or ommissions like on many other CD's you find nowadays. It is just like you're playing vinyl without all of the scratching sounds. And fyi: machine head is part of a guitar/etc, not a person as some of my nephews/nieces thought!:) Nice addition to your CD collection.

  • Great album thanks!

Thanks for the great album, even though it's a cd, I'm still from the old school. Matter of fact our band back in the early '70 played some Deep Purple, Hush, My woman from Tokyo, and of couse Smoke on the Water. I'm slowly replacing my album collection, that I foolishly let go of years ago(another story), but any way thanks again, got it in good order and will be purchasing more in the future. thanks Doug

  • Legendary rock music and musicians

Excellent CD and a very good representation of what kind of music these guy's wrote and performed. Their music is more than just 4 chords that repeat like Seattle rock but composed music that rocks. A good representation of rock in the 70's era that blends guitars, organ, bass, and drums, with excellent vocals. Truely one of the greats along with The Who, Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, and Uriah Heep. Give a listen. If you like this then try old Kansas music berore the Dust in the wind album, which is pitiful compared to their album Masque, or try Styx the Wooden Nickel collection, or even Uriah Heep's Magicians Birthday.
