Incredibly popular during its run from 1978-1982 on television, THE INCREDIBLE HULK has become something of a pop culture landmark, with both Bill Bixby's portrayal of Bruce Banner and Lou Ferrigno's portrayal of The Hulk becoming virtually synonymous with those characters. In this, the pilot episode for the series, we see how Dr. Bruce Banner acquired his alter ego, The Incredible Hulk. During a research experiment on superhuman strength, an accident at the lab bombards Dr. Banner with gamma radiation, transforming him into The Incredible Hulk and beginning his long journey to rid himself of the giant green crime fighter.

    Back in the late seventies, young Terry Bollea was playing bass guitar in a band of Muppets called "Dr.Teeth, and The Electric Mayhem" when an accidental overdose of Grandma's radiation alters his booty chemistry, now whenever Terry Bollea becomes angry or outraged in the ring, a startling metamorphosis occurs, he starts to Hulk up when his opponent is kicking his butt. "Mr.Fuji, Don't make me angry, brother. You wouldn't like it if Hulkamania ran wild on you! Starring Hollywood Hogan in his first major B movie, and Lou Ferrigno as his stunt double. Special cameo by John Schneider, and Tom Wopat as The Duke Boys, who are cousins that for some reason, The Hulk refers to as "Brother". The Hulk also saves The General Lee from being crushed in the same Junkyard where he fights two mutated ...

    Bill Bixby, Susan Sullivan, Jack Colvin and Lou Ferrigno are good actors, but the special effects are cheesy. A car does not explode because you turned it over and it rolled down a hill 3 times. A television does not explode into a ball of fire because you throw a chair at it. Of course people don't change into green monsters but that is what the plot was about so it's ok with me. Overall I enjoyed this movie. I purchased it because I grew up watching the Incredible Hulk in the 1980's. I have the pilot episode on VHS, but VHS tapes are going the way of 8 tracks and 45's. This DVD contains a bonus of the episode "Married" which shows a happier side of David Banner as he is happily cracking jokes with his wife.
