  • Do rare books often disappoint?

    I'll be the first to admit, I'm not a fervent UP fan. This book has some excellent plates almost equally divided with steam and diesel. AJ Wolfe's diesel photos being notable to myself. There has to be upwards of 200 11 x 14 plates which heightens the value in this book. Thankfully UP fantrip engine coverage is minimal, diesel coverage is reasonable but some steam photos seem mundane. Regretfully the books size seems more a hinderance than help. As it is a large book with an enormous spine the best way to view the plates is to suspend the book in your lap keeping the spine pointed downward so you can view the plates in thier entirety without damaging the spine. It's really too big to be a coffee table book, and you'll fear letting others handle it. I was lucky , my book doesn't have a ...
