The "Empires" edition of Omega Force's Dynasty Warriors 4 offers a number of new playable factions and character customization options, to allow gamers to challenge the Three Kingdoms for control of China on their own terms. Citing fan requests, the developer has tripled the number of character models and voices available, and no weapon restrictions are imposed on custom-created characters. New, smaller kingdoms are now available for play, or players can design their own kingdom and it lead to conquer and unify the divided country. New terrain options allow battle through the mountains, at the seaside, or across the desert. Stronghold structures can influence troop morale, and captured enemy generals may now be convinced to join the player's army. Fans of the series can also visit the game's "Archive" section, which contains character and weapon models, narrated segments, and a gallery of Dynasty Warriors artwork.

Lots of fun and plenty of action
Dynasty Warriors 4: Empires is a great combination of Dynasty Tactics, Dynasty Warriors 4, and the Extreme Legends expansion packs. You can play as many different characters, manage your empires forces and production, make treaties, capture enemy officers for your own force, and hack and slash your way to victory in numerous battles. I'm glad I got this game. It has been a lot of fun!

A Good Time-killer, but...
Even as a die-hard Dynasty Warrior series fan, I must say this game tires fairly quickly. KOEI did not spend nearly enough time developing the strategy side of this game - the so-called tactics are limited, and very quickly become a necessary evil you have to go through before you go into battle. I was expecting more from a company that creates the Romance of the Three Kingdoms to such extent that I cannot even understand how to play it to put more "mind" into this, but no...Even as a die-hard Dynasty Warrior series fan, I must say this game tires fairly quickly. The First New Concept (now been updated)
This version of Dynasty Warriors incorporates the prior versions of gameplay but throws in a new concept of actually choosing the land to conquer (morealess giving you a bit of control in the storyline). You can even choose your characters that you do so with (so it doesn't have to be the same teams, etc.). They have came out with a new version of this since this one, so unless you are collecting this I would advise that you buy DW5 Empires instead.This version of Dynasty Warriors incorporates the prior versions of gameplay but throws in a new concept of actually choosing the land to conquer (morealess giving you a bit of control in the storyline). You can even choose your characters that you do so with (so it doesn't have to be the same teams, etc.).
