About this product

Product Information

Sims get schooled in this first expansion pack for the best-selling social development sequel. The Sims 2: University adds a new "Young Adult" life stage for Sims 2 characters, and a new "College Town" environment tailored to all their young adult fears and desires. When characters complete their teenage years, they'll now have the choice to move away from home, and into a dorm room at the university. To aid in this exciting but sometimes challenging transition, first-year students are required to live in the dorms, but if they do well there, they can eventually move into off-campus housing. The dorms are an excellent place to learn about college life and meet other students, however, so young adult Sims will want to make the most of their time there.

Dorm rooms are small and standardized, but the dorms themselves are large and bustling with an array of NPC characters, providing the player's scholarly Sim with all sorts of potential companionship, from friends and study partners to rivals and love interests. Once they've met some other characters and learned their way around campus, students may wish to move into a place of their own, or into a group house with other students. To do so, they'll need to earn some extra rent money, by picking up a part-time job, or perhaps hustling pool at the local hangout.

Many Sims 2 players may look back upon (or forward to) their college years as a time of social growth as well as scholarly dedication, and this expansion pack is also designed to account for the extracurricular aspects of collegiate life. Sorority and fraternity houses are excellent places to throw wild parties and truly cut loose, especially when they're equipped with the proper party-oriented objects. Characters can take turns doing inverted chug-a-lugs on the "Juice Barrel," for example, or engage in relaxed contemplation around the "Bubble Blower" apparatus. Opportunities to blow off steam abound, in fact, as young adult Sims can take part in pillow fights, toga parties, musical jam sessions, foot-bag circles, and even buck naked "streaking" runs.

As in the real world, hard work (and play) at college can lead to fresh perspectives and new opportunities. While progressing through school, studious Sims can earn an additional "want" slot. They'll also have a one-time opportunity to change their overall life aspiration. If they manage to keep their sanity and study hard enough, young adult Sims will eventually graduate to full adulthood, where they can truly reap the fruits of their collegiate efforts. College graduates can access new career paths, such as "paranormal," "science," and "show biz," each with its own appropriate ultimate reward object at the top of the ladder.

I'm all about retro games and this game is so fun. I love sending my Sims to college and making them streak and pull pranks!

  • Maybe with a better graphics card . . .

The Sims 2 is the BEST video game franchise, ever. EVER. Sims 3 looks too ugly for me though. Anyway, I love the Sims 2. I put it on my new laptop and it worked like a charm (it went blue screen on me twice but I think my laptop overheated so it didn't damage anything, I uninstalled and re-installed the Sims 2 and I don't have the blue screen error anymore). I got The Sims 2 University and the features are AWESOME, but my laptop couldn't really handle it all, haha, so I had to uninstall it but as I played it for about a week before taking it off and just playing the base game I was pretty impressed. When I get a new desktop I'll put University on it and own it :)

  • Sims2 University

I love the Sims2 so this was just another opportunity to get my sims out of the house. I love the fact that they turn into young adults when they go to college. I like all of the fun new outfits and furniture. The fact that I cant move a sim into the same dorm as one of my roommates sims without having to play both sims is frustrating. I just have to make sure that all my sims are in dorms together and try not to mix things up too much. This expansion pack is cool also because your college sim can invite their family and friends from "home" to come to their cool college town to visit and go out. It also seems like the young adult sim learns things faster in college and doesnt lose so much from their fun meter while studying, which is GREAT!

  • Great Game!

I liked everything about this product. No complaints. I bought the Sims University two or three weeks ago and was immediately impressed with the number of features available on this game. It has a great picture and on the cd was little to no damages. The Sims game is perfect for people who are in college and also love sims. Cheap price and a great deal!

  • Not as great an addon as I hoped, but still great.

Well, I'd hoped the University would be able to have more crossover possibilities with the regular neighborhoods. Apparently only Young Adults and Adults are able to access University areas, there's no possibility for families to grow or even visit from the main neighborhood. Additionally, I'd really hoped that Young Adults could exist in the regular neighborhood either by leaving early or even having the option of growing up the rest of the way. I'm still giving four stars for this excellent expansion, because it does provide a lot more options and possibilities. I only dock it because I had hoped for a bit more.
