    The adapter does what it is supposed to do. I use Dewalt 20v 5ah batteries. The problem is, that you can’t leave the adapter on the tool with the battery attached. The battery will completely drain within 3-4 days even if not used. One battery was so badly drained, that it would no longer take a charge. I had to jump it using a healthy battery. Only then would it charge.
