A feel good movie from the '80's

Like other films from the '80's, this film was about how to achieve success in the corporate world. This is a feel-good movie with an impressive cast: Melanie Griffith, Harrison Ford, Sigourney Weaver, and Alec Baldwin. The acting is fantastic and what I liked the most was the clothes, hair, and makeup from that era. Remember those huge shoulder pads? The only downside to the film was the editing. There are a couple of scenes that ended so abruptly that I suspected I received a made-for-TV version. There is nudity in the movie but I only remember one scene. Overall, a great film.

  • A bit dated, but still very engaging

A bit dated? Sure. After all it was made in 1988. Demonstrates how much things have changed for women in the workplace AND how much further we still have to go. Seeing the 3 stars when they were SO much younger was a real treat. Melanie Griffith would likely have been carded if she went into a bar and ordered a drink. Oh, and for those of you not familiar with (or wanting to revisit the era of) "BIG HAIR”, you won't see bigger hair anywhere.

  • Top Notch !!!

Women in Power ---- about time !!! Superb movie , great screenplay , incredible cast , top director ! Highly recommend this film , Melanie , Harrison and Sigourney shine in their prospective characters , not to forget Joan Cusack, Alec Baldwin and Phillip Bosco as well . The opening scene showing the Staten Island ferry arriving in Manhattan with the award winning song by Carly Simon playing as the working class people emerge is my personal favorite . This was pure 80's attitude and thoroughly enjoyable with one of the best finale's in movie history . Gotta love the scene where Tess almost faints when she reads the price tag of her bosses dress --$ 6,000.. !!!

  • Working Girl (DVD, 2006)

Melanie Griffith is a young secretary who has tried everything to get a break, but is constantly passed up. Others get credit for her work, and she gets nothing. One day she gets a new boss, a woman (Sigourney Weaver) who seems to be different. But, what's the old line. . . "See the new boss, same as the old boss. . ." Melanie's ideas get ripped off one more time, and when her boss breaks a leg while skiing, and is laid up for two weeks, Melanie steps in and uses her boss's wardrobe, perfume, and attitudes to not only reinvent herself, but to take away her boss's boyfriend, and job. Cute movie.

  • Classic 80s Movie

Great characters and plot delivered by top actors. Memorable lines we quote decades after we first saw it.
