  • The Power of Positive Dog Training by Pat Miller

I found the first edition some years back, when we adopted an abused golden retriever. (Not just neglect/etc.; she'd been whipped, beaten, choked & kicked; had a front tooth broken off; even had some shallow stabs on the sides of her neck.) Although I'm not a trainer by profession, on my own I'd previously trained, certified & then qualified as handler for our last golden, as a Delta Society therapy dog. Before we adopted the abused (our current) golden, I realized I'd need better knowledge/skills. I went back to the books &, essentially, did a survey of everything out there in the field of dog training. (I'd used a 70's-based method of lure training for our previous dogs.) • Excellent Dog Training Book!

This is a wonderful book, especially for the first time dog owner, or the first time dog trainer! It's easy to read and gives you detailed instructions for handling the most common training issues and even gives you a recommended training schedule. I love that the author uses positive rewards instead of punishment. And the author does a wonderful job of explaining the hows and whys of dog training which helps to keep you and your dog from getting frustrated.

  • A dog training book in a positive way.

Was in excellent condition. Product better than described. I have a new dog & want to do Positive training with him. Been using the book for a week & my dog is doing very well. I have learned alot about being a good dog owner. So I guess we are both learning from this fablous book.
