    Green for Danger Obviously

    This is an interesting period piece from British cinematic history the period being towards the end of WWII. Although the setting is clearly rural the effects of the VI rockets (also once called buzz-bombs, doodlebugs etc.) are in evidence. the sound of the rocket engine passing over is ominous but less ominous than that sound suddenly stopping. An explosion of said rocket leads to a routine surgical operation during which the patient "snuffs it" under suspicious circumstances. This leads to an investigation by the hilariously named Inspector Cockrill played by Alastair Sim (think Scrooge). More deaths and disturbances occur before the mystery is ultimately solved. The acting is by British stage actors of the period including Trevor Howard and several other people mostly ...

    Green for Danger Almost Classic

    | love the pure 'mystery' set up of this film. The clues are all there if you know what to look for but there's still a twist at the end. I love the different English characters etc. The quality of the transfer is good. The only thing I hate about this version of the movie is the commentary. Who ever wrote it should be banned from writing any more! Who cares what other films the directors did not make or the life history of bit players? Why would I want to hear the same information repeated 4 times? Why would I NOT like to hear about the lives/careers of the leading actors, why certain directoral choices were made or how shots were accomplished? Basically, if you want to hear a LOT about the author of the novel the film was based on and every other book she ever ...
