About this product

Product Information

Taking a more realistic approach to military combat than many of its contemporaries, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is set on the fictitious Russian island of Skira, a target of acquisition by the Chinese PLA. Your mission, as a soldier in the U.S. Marine Corps, is to forcefully address the situation before full-scale war erupts between the two countries. How you achieve your objectives is up to you, with the game allowing you the freedom to decide on the best course of action in a wide-open world. Employ real-life military strategies, issuing commands to flank, assault, and suppress, while guiding your squad into buildings, adjusting formations, and reacting to an enemy that will alter its tactics in real time. You can also commandeer tanks, jeeps, attack helicopters, and many other vehicles to complete mission goals. Up to 32 players can battle each other online in various team-oriented multiplayer modes.

  • Great Game

Well, Dragon Rising is not exactly like the original but it still is a great game in its own right. I liked the fact that the original used GameSpy as a server for multiplayer and there was also the option of first or third person views. Dragon Rising is only a first person shooter and used its own server for multiplayer. In game action is much the same as the original. The Graphics are still very good and maps are a bit different but still miles and realistic movements. So, there are differences, but they are both very good games.

  • Not bad at all!

I have a copy of this game on XBOX 360 as well but decided that I don't want to waste anymore money on that platform because I just lost my fourth unit to RRD. This game didn't get enough credit from reviews. It doesn't match the expansive world that is the original OFP, and lacks technical features from both OFP and the ArmA series. It still offers a decent amount of challenge. Hardcore is the only way to go.

  • One of the BEST games I have ever played!!!

The game is great! It does not look much like the original Flashpoint or Arma which is good coz we do not need another clone. It's strog points are: - good graphics (looking even somewhat better than Red River), - good phisics, - great realistic sounds and sound effects (something that Arma series still cannot acheive), - and (my favourite)the special effects, like explosions, bullet hits, looking very realistic!!!

  • Not too bad for what it is

WAAAAAAYYYYY too much time wandering around doing the looky look thing. Also in the present configuration the squad AI is less that remarkable. They won't mount vehicles all the time and they tend to run in front of you when firing.Yeah, that's a problem.Fairly nice graphics but,the auto-detect of the software is non-existentso you have to adjust all individual settings manually.Sound is good for what it is.Really dislike the idea of offering extraction before choice is made on secondary missions.I would best describe it as a non- thinking man's Call of Duty or medal of Honor series.

  • Awesome Game

If do you like strategy and simulation warfare games, this is your game. The best war game ever seen. You have the control and the freedom of the real life actions. Be yourself your squad leader!
