Raton Pass (1951) is an unusual. seldom seen and very exciting western starring Dennis Morgan, Patricia Neal, and the great Steve Cochran. The DVD was packaged very carefully, including a foam insert inside the case plus the disc enclosed in an envelope to keep it from being scratched. Arrived in great time. The memories
Back in the day………LOL Well, that’s quite true, really. On L.A. channel 9, Sci-Fi Theater, and channel 11, Chiller, these however cheesy but nonetheless great, trendsetting movies not only scared the crap out of us young kids back then but served as pivotal stepping stones to what we see today on the big screen. Having the Legacy editions and/or single dvd’s of all the great monster movies of the day – Godzilla, Rodan, Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, Creature from the Black Lagoon, King Kong, and so, so many others, this month I ordered from a couple different suppliers three movies I didn’t have – The Cyclops and both connected-at-the-hip movies, The Amazing Colossal Man and War of the Colossal Beast. I can’t honestly tell you how many times my childhood friend and I saved the USA as ... Back in the day………LOL Well, that’s quite true, really. I can still hear my mom get after me for firing my G.I. Joe WWII era bazooka rocket at our black and white TV screen. The memories. I wonder if they had anything to do with me finally retiring out as a police Sgt. in my adult life? LOL The memories…….

Good old "B" Sci-Fi
This was one of my Saturday afternoon Sci-Fi-Theater favorites on television as a kid, 50+ years later it didn't disappoint. I was surprised how some of the story was different in my mind yet it still held my attention like it had all those years ago. One would imagine the cheesy special affects would be laughable by today's standards but I was actually 'startled' a couple of times. These old flicks are fun! Only issue I had was volume, even cranked up all the way the soundtrack was muffled and I couldn't hear the dialogue. I thought about moving closer to the t.v. set but that idea creeped me out... This is one of those B movie classics from the 1950s that played on your local TV station back in the day. If you had a Saturday afternoon "Creature Features" or "Chiller Theater" in your area, chances are you saw this movie - and it made an impression. I fondly remember the make-up, tame by today's standards, but disturbing in it's day. As for this DVD edition, the folks at Warner Bros. did a bang-up job! The print is beautiful, and the sound is fine. Its gratifying to know someone cared enough about quality to produce a DVD that's worth the price! They could have gone the cheap route, using an old, beat up print, but instead they found great source material and really delivered the goods. Classic 50s Sci-Fi
Bert I. Gordon's The Cyclops is a beloved cheesy old classic that doesn't disappoint. Gloria Talbot and Lon Chaney Jr. are still great and this campy B movie never gets tiresome. Highly recommended for lovers of the genre. All others... Beware!!!
