About this product

Product Information

Based on a beach novel by author Lindsay Maracotta, Hallmark's fun and breezy made-for-TV movie HOLLYWOOD MOM'S MYSTERY playfully skewers the shallow, self-obsessed world of show business while offering a slyly tongue-in-cheek murder mystery that parodies film-noir conventions. FAMILY TIES' Justine Bateman stars as down-to-earth children's book illustrator Lucy Freers, whose stable home life with husband Kit (Andrew McCarthy) and nine-year-old daughter Chloe (Holliston Coleman) makes her an anomaly in her celebrity-ridden Beverly Hills neighborhood. But Lucy finds herself reluctantly thrust into the surreal world of the rich and famous when the trophy wife of their movie-star neighbor Woody Prentice (eternally tan George Hamilton) turns up bludgeoned to death in the Freers' swimming pool. With the help of no-nonsense police detective Theresa Shoe (Elizabeth Pea), Lucy turns amateur sleuth to find the killer in a series of gleefully comic adventures that penetrate deep into the heart of darkness that is the collagen-implanted, liposuctioned jet-set.

  • Updated Gumshoe Hollywood Who Dunnit ... Love it!

I was just browsing mysteries when I came across this one. I thought it would be entertaining....it was! Justine Bateman carried this lead very well. Good supporting actors (like George (the tan man) Hamilton and the location in Hollywood, along with the story line made this a favorite for me. It somehow reminded me of an old B&W Gumshoe ... but in color and a bit more "flash and flair" to it. I would have thought it would have made a good TV series.
