    Good Long Term Work Horse

This is a strong versatile board that can take and provide support for a lot of different device configurations. I built a tower system in 2012 with 2 5.25 external optical drives, 6 internal 3.5 and 1 SSD. Also installed an NVIDIA GTX graphics card, WIFI/Bluetooth card and a 24bit audio board. CPU is an i5 3570K with 16GB RAM. The hardware never missed a beat in 8 years of hard duty. Had plenty of software crashes though. About 6 months ago, one of the two NICs (the INTEL one) started dropping out. Just recently it increased and then the board started having problems booting up. The board would not finish the POST. I switched to the backup UEFI bios which worked for a while then it quit. So I'm replacing the motherboard with the same.

  • This is so choice, if you have the means, I highly recommend it!

I used to be a solid Asus customer, but the quality of their boards has declined recently. This Gigabyte board is in my opinion the "new Asus". I have heard that former employees of Asus went to Gigabyte, and I think the quality of this board reflects that. This is a rock solid platform on which to build a fast PC for gaming, as was my intent. Overclocking is easy and intuitive with the new UEFI BIOS. I used an i5 2500k Intel CPU with a single ATI 7850 graphics card, and got a 7.6 in Windows Experience Index without even overclocking the CPU. This is a great platform at a reasonable price on which to build a really fast PC. I spent about $700 total for the board,($179.00), a new Crucial 256GB SATA 3 SSD, ($179.00), 16 GB of G-Skill RAM, and an Intel i5 2500k CPU, all in a new NZXT Phantom ...

  • Bound to fail

This like most Gigabte boards fails after not too many years. I know it has happened to me more than once. When you start the computer the machine just goes in a loop where it will never operate properly. I can see why these boards are selling at a high price now. I see prices two to three times the price of a new board. Most likely it is because people do not want to throw their investment in a 1155 socket and memory away. It is hard to match these to another motherboard. They are taking a chance that the board's problems will not happen again. I have switched to ASRock boards in all my builds for myself and clients. They are a superior product. If you must have a Gigabyte board, buy two with one being a back-up board. This will a lot cheaper than buying a replacement board down the road.

  • Still pretty powerful for being over 10 years old now lol.

It was the goto motherboard for the best performance of it's time, and it still performs quite well today, when paired with the best CPU that it supports an intel i7-3770k, a decent amount of ram 16GB DDR3 G.skill ripjaws x, with the 2133 MHz xmp profile enabled, and a decent GPU like an amd RX 580 red devil, or nvidia equivalent, it can achieve 60 fps, and over on quite a lot of games, like Dying Light, and Halo MCC, with the settings maxed out, and as far as a work computer it's more than capable for all kinds of business operations, and work applications.

  • Works great for an older board

Lots of features. Still learning how to use it.
