Outstanding Original + It;s Re-make DONE RIGHT!
This Original is and has always been a very good movie! The 2006 re-make is a great movie which did the original 70's movie justice! The re-make was modernized but still just as good as the original! Very similar to what happened with the original 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre and then the 2003 re-make! The original was a great movie but the re-make also modernized it a bit making just as good as the original 1974 version! Rare re-makes DONE RIGHT for both The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes!! This Original is and has always been a very good movie! Best Horror DVD of 2006
I'm a huge fan of horror films. And after so many disappointing slasher films released this year, I finally found one that completely kept my interest in its entirety. I'm not saying that The Hills Have Eyes is Oscar worthy by any means, but this really was a great film. As you may expect with a 21st Century horror remake, the acting was sub-par, the special effects were great, and it was just the right length. We all know that horror films really started getting good when the notion of reality was introduced to the genre (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and this followed the lead. The basic idea was that mining families in the 40s refused to leave their homes despite the threat of nuclear testing by the US government in the southwest region of the states. The radiation from the ... I'm a huge fan of horror films. And after so many disappointing slasher films released this year, I finally found one that completely kept my interest in its entirety. I'm not saying that The Hills Have Eyes is Oscar worthy by any means, but this really was a great film. As you may expect with a 21st Century horror remake, the acting was sub-par, the special effects were great, and it was just the right length. We all know that horror films really started getting good when the notion of reality was introduced to the genre (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and this followed the lead. The basic idea was that mining families in the 40s refused to leave their homes despite the threat of nuclear testing by the US government in the southwest region of the states. The radiation from the aformentioned tests caused deformaties and gene mutation that subsequently (and in addition to inbreeding) led to birth defects, etc. in newborns over many generations. These families lived secluded and off the radar in the deserts in what was ligltly alluded to as Area-51. If you've seen Wrong Turn (Eliza Dushku), the premise is similar. This story is about a particular family heading to California through the New Mexico desert and their trials and tribulations in dealing with the mining families. You'll notice an apperance by that Austrailian chick from the popular TV series Lost, minus the accent. The movie is quite predictable, and has a few surprising moments. For the simple fact that it's a horror film, i had to give it a 4 of 5. It's at least worth a trip to blockbuster or a spot in your Netflix queue. At the time of this writing the release is fairly recent so you'll probably have a hard time finding it used or new for much less that its MSRP.

Pretty realastic movies. This really could happen. It would be very sad if it were to happen the way the movie did. A little scarier than I originally thought it was going to be. But all in all they are pretty good movies. Would recomend to older teens and adults. Would not recomend to younger teens or younger. ALot of blood and violence. Favorite part - Where a man walks into a room to search for his baby who had been kidnapped and the children of the hills ask the man "Are you here to play with us?" Very sad but a special moment that proved not all the people in the hills were all bad. Actually the people in the hills were just trying to survive. But ended up having to do things that were horrible to survive (example - Ate people, animals, etc..) Good movies if you like ... Pretty realastic movies. This really could happen. The UNRATED Version is for sure a MUST SEE!! GRAPHIC!!!
This is the UNRATED/THE VERSION TO DIE FOR is was VERY GOOD! VERY GRAPHIC, and VERY GOOD! Not your "typical" scary thriller movie, but interesting and gruesome! Not suitable for all ages, thats for sure! WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!! Our Overall Rating: 8/10 THANKS!!! CHAOTICZ
