    "Craftsman" Best Value?

These Sockets are USA MFD. I've been using these USA Made ones since 1956, when I got my first Craftsman tool set. I still have some of them. Yes the early ones were actually better. I was a mechanic in the USAF & worked parttime off base to earn extra money. I remember using an old Buick drive shaft on a Craftsman 1/2 in. breaker bar to loosen extremely hard to loosen nuts! How much torque did I put on in doing so? I haven't a clue! However I still have this same Breaker Handle today. It's still as it was in 1960! Go ahead young person especially, & buy the junk for 1/2 the price---but be prepared to replace it several times if you do. US Made Craftsman was the best value in hand tools. I know from a lifetime of experience! Thanks for reading! ALW

  • New Old Stock Craftsman "early VH code" 44809

Lucky to find one of these still with the original store card hanger included, as they were sold in Sears stores around the mid 1990's (VH CODE). The best feature these particular ratchets featured was both a metal quick release button and selector. Around 2000 and later the metal qr buttons and selectors were replaced with plastic versions instead, which were durable, however not as much as the original metal versions were. Overall, as the years passed, the 44809 ratchets "de-evolved" even more by the end of USA production in 2011.

  • Overall, a good tool

Bought this one to replace the same version, but 40-years old that broke. This new version handle has 4-sharp edges above the grip area. Overall, a good tool that should get me through retirement years. However, I wouldn't buy this again as there are many options of equal durability that won't hurt the hand. Cheers, FanBelt32

  • Better than new

I had no idea what I bought until I opened the package. I'm holding a NBM 3/8" ratchet that I planed on tossing in my box But it's better then new why? Old time USA 🇺🇸 it's not worth much but what it's worth to me is our four father built this tool. It's the memory of who we are and are achievements. I thank you for your time. ... rob442

  • Best ratchet ever.

I love these ratchets. I have four of them. I like the quick switch on the back of the ratchet and the lock and release for the sockets. And finally ,they last forever.
