About this product

Product Information

The Konica Minolta Maxxum 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 APO D is an easy-to-carry, easy-to-handle lens that is great for anyone looking to take photos on the go. With there being so many choices of lenses available, it is hard to choose a great one that provides a good value. Many lenses suffer from long-end drop of softness and saturation that defeats the purpose of a long-range lens. In this particular lens, APO means "apochromatic correction," and "apochromatic" means "for all colors." Simply speaking, light does not focus at the same point for all wavelengths. Apochromatic correction makes a lens better, and the extra care in design and use of more expensive materials makes a difference in the end: beautiful, sharp photographs. This is the lens that you have been looking to give you those beautiful, sharp pictures from 100mm to 300mm. The Konica Minolta Maxxum 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 APO D provides excellent dual operation for auto and manual focusing, and switching between them is a breeze. The focus-hold button allows for stopping and releasing the shutter at the desired position. The button is able to provide different functions, such as continuous auto focus or central sensor selection, such as on different types of Sony cameras. In manual focusing, the wide ring is easy to control and rotates smoothly, both of which help to focus the camera where you want it. The size of the Konica Minolta Maxxum 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 APO D lens is ideal. It’s not too short to sacrifice handling, and much smaller than other lenses in this zoom range that cover full frame-sized sensors. This lens fits many different camera bodies, including the Sony Alpha, and will match many other Sony cameras. As far as aesthetics go, this lens will match numerous cameras since it has an exterior finish that is a smooth black satin, typical of many camera bodies. Not only is the build quality extremely excellent on this Minolta lens, the weight is minimal and the size is compact. An outstanding part of this lens is the color and contrast. It’s easy to appreciate the exceptional clarity and color of this lens, and you’ll learn to use a telephoto lens with ease. This Minolta lens works exceedingly well set at f/8/9, but It works just as well at other f stops, too. The sharpness is quite excellent as well. However, at f/5.6 or wide open at f/4.5, the APO D 100-300mm lens is already quite good. Stop it down to f/8 and see the kind of magic that only the highest-priced lenses deliver. The contrast and color are on par with other quality lenses, but at a fraction of the price. Two low-dispersion AD glass elements help to limit chromatic aberrations and other color defects, so you’re sure to get a true-to-life photo each and every time. This Minolta lens also supports Dynax 7’s ADI flash metering by providing precise distance information from the lens to the flash.

Shipping is really fast and only took 2-3 days from JP to the US. Description is kind of accurate overall with small inaccurate issues. The description says the lens has no dust and clear, but there are actually pretty apparent dusts and abrasion. Response is fast while did not answer my question of "if the camera has been tested with testing films". Overall, great experience. I will come back to feedback once I get one roll developed. Thank you!

    Undervalued Beauty

I just received a Minolta 100-300 lens in excellent condition. I think it's a highly underrated piece of glass for the price (35.00). The mechanics are first rate and the autofocus under the right conditions is also excellent especially on a sony a7ii with the laea4 adapter. In fact it works better than on an older a77 which needs no adapter. All in all a great buy.

  • For the money probably the best option in this range

I own probably a dozen Sony/Minolta/Tamron lenses for my Sony a65 and I probably have read reviews of most AF lenses for a Sony/Minolta mount. Is all the pixel peeping and research worth the effort? Dunno but I can't help myself! I bought the Sony 75-300mm kit lens with my a65. I have taken my favorite pictures of all time with it but I was dissatisfied with its sharpness. Plus, when I bought a cheap Minolta 35-70mm and a cheap Minolta 35-80mm lens I discovered the famed 'Minolta colors' which I prefer over the Sony's. That's a lot of background into me buying a 100-300mm APO as the best option for the aforementioned color and sharpness. Dyxum reviewers give it favorable ratings assuming you get a good copy (there appears to be a fair amount of variance ...

  • A superb lens for the Sony Alpha series Digital Cameras

With Sony having bought Minolta's camera and lens part of the business, the new Sony Alpha series incorporated Minolta Camera's technology into their Digital Cameras. Best outcome of this is that all the Minolta Maxxum lenses can fit perfectly onto the new Sony Digital Cameras. Two great advantages of these : 1. 20 year's worth of Maxxum Lenses are instantly available to be purchased for the Sony Cameras. 2. The Maxxum lenses, like this one, are superbly made glass lenses, with great optics. (Many of the current lenses are suprisingly not made of glass!). 3. A really wide range of used Maxxum lenses are available on ebay for excellent prices ! While most Minonlta Maxxum lenses are nice, be careful when buying used. Be willing to pay extra for those that come with ...

  • Good all around telephoto lens

I bought the Konica Minolta 100-300mm lens to take photos of my grandson racing his dirtbike.I had always wanted a telephoto for other shots.I have had very good experiences using this lens, taking a few rolls at his races. It is easy to use and produces great pictures.I have even tried faster speed film with great results. Also taking shots of our dog who usually won't let you get close to get good pictures.I have really been pleased with this purchase with this purchase and would highly recommend this product, buying slr camera accessaries are a lot cheaper now than before digital cameras came along.Like with anything else the only downside is buying film and getting it developed

  • An excellent lens for a very modest price. Recommended!!

I use a couple of NEX-7 bodies with dedicated E-Mount lenses, but thought I would try some of the Minolta glass in the focal lengths that are not well represented in the E-Mount family. So far I have acquired the 135mm, the 100-200mm and the 100-300mm, in addition to the 50mm and 100mm Macro lenses. The Minolta lenses have an excellent build quality and are quite sharp on the APS-C format. The prices are a terrific bargain even if you consider the cost of the Sony LAEA-4 adapter. I bought a very nice copy of the 100-300mm APO-D version, for a fraction of the cost of the new FE 70-200mm f/4. I miss the stabilization of the newer lens, but I am hoping that either the A6000 or the NEX7 will be upgraded to add the stabilization feature. With a long lens it makes a big difference. In short the ...
