About this product

Product Information

The Sims 3: Generations is an expansion pack for The Sims 3 that introduces the notion of developmental phases into your virtual Sim universe. The Sims 3 offers an open-ended gaming environment in which players create their own simulations of families and neighborhoods. By emphasizing chronological distinctions, Generations makes the interactions among Sims more nuanced and entertaining. Released in 2011, Generations was the fourth expansion pack for The Sims 3, but you do not need the previous expansion packs to play this one. You only need the original The Sims 3 game to make full use of this pack. The game comes on a disk that can be played on both Macs and PCs.With Generations, simulated characters can now react to the world in highly specific ways that reflect their chronological age. An infant can be given a doll that metamorphoses into an imaginary friend that no one else can see. Child characters can play in tree houses and dress up in costumes they found in their toy chests. Adolescents can throw parties when their parents are not home and play rebellious pranks on other characters. Just like teens in the real world, adolescent Sims are prone to extreme mood swings. Players can control direct their avatars to do some of these behaviors, but Sims will also do them autonomously. There are seven chronological stages in The Sims 3: Baby, Toddler, Teen, Young Adult, Adult, and Elder. Each Sim year corresponds to a certain number of days in a Sim character’s life. Of course, these only amount to minutes or hours for someone playing the game. Players can adjust the time their Sims spend in each life stage. Parents gain the ability to punish children and adolescents for bad behavior by grounding them or making them do chores. If the younger members of the household get too far out of control, they can be sent away to boarding school. Both kids and adolescents can participate in after-school activities, which helps them learn useful life skills.Since so much of a young person's focus revolves around romance, Generations features several new romantic interactions. Simulated characters have many more opportunities to flirt, and their dates are scored numerically. Higher scores mean rewards for players and relationship growth for characters. Adults might also be visited with a Mid-Life Crisis, which lasts six full Sim days and makes the Sim wish for a divorce, a new job, or a new car. Any wishes fulfilled during this Mid-Life Crisis give bonus Lifetime Happiness points that can be exchanged for unique rewards like teleportation or no more household bills. The Sims 3 addition also includes a host of objects, behaviors, and Create-a-Sim features. Males can now sport body hair, while elders can use canes that increase the speed of their gait. Two character traits are introduced to the game: nurturing and rebelliousness. This Sims 3 expansion pack also introduced a new Day Care profession into the game so your avatar can stay home and earn Simoleons caring for infants and toddlers. Generations brings many additional features to the universe of The Sims 3. Family interactions are stronger than ever with a host of fresh animations and wishes. Let your imagination blossom as your role-playing and storytelling games gain more options with this expansion.

Seller was awesome, I did not know that the game I purchased had a single use code. (It used to be different, where you could download the game onto multiple devices) upon arrival I tried using the code and found out it had already been used 😪. The seller was apologetic and understanding and issued me a refund without any problems, which is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm stumped on why they would make it a single use hard copy. Should have been a digital download if only one use. Beats me!? Take care

    Excellent Expansion

The Sims 3: Generations is by far one of the best Sims expansions to date. Unlike most of the $20 expansions, this one offers a variety of new items and new opportunities. Ever wanted to film or photograph your Sims children as they grow up? Ever wanted to properly decorate for a wedding, or have an actual wedding gown as an option? Wanted to sign your kids up for ballet or scouting? With this Sims 3 expansion pack, you can do all of these things. There are also options for your teenage sims to pull rebellious stunts, pranks, go to prom, and also get grounded. There's a lot of options offered with this expansion, and I honestly think this would have been a much better option to come with the base game than, say...Late Night.

  • Sims 3 Generations is a Great Game, Build,Recolor and Share!

I have been playing this game about 12 year ago, I bought all sims 1 up to this game here, I been playing for years, Why I bought this game was I been collecting since then, but This game looked so fun I had to buy it, I am interested in buying new sims games and looking forward to playing more, I love all the new features in Sims 3 games, I how ever do not like that in this game they have not released any weather actions for the game and Do not like how the game takes a little bit longer to load the pattern changes on the game when I go to create a new item or clothing when the computer goes little slower then avarge to get the Patterns loaded, But would I buy this game again, My answer would be total yes, I love Sims 1,2 and now 3 Yes I would buy sims 3 Genration again, Nice details and ...

  • A must have expansion pack

i bought this because of the extra gameplay for sims that are not young adult or adult, and overall i'm pretty content with it. the teens and children definitely have more to do in the game, but i wish they could put more for the children and elder sims. the pranks are fun and sending offspring off to boarding school is something that comes in handy. although child aged sims should have been given the option to do more, i think its a great game and probably one of the best expansion packs for the sims 3.

  • Sims addicts must buy; if you're so-so, don't bother.

Probably not worth the $40 to buy new in store, but a great addition to your Sims library. Updates include lots of new stuff for kids, tons of new interactions, and plenty of activities for children and teens. If you're a fan of Sim weddings, it's awesome. My personal favorite (a bonus for those who hate dealing with kids altogether) is the boarding school option, where you send them off as a child or teen, and don't see them again until they age up. Lots of fun, but it would have been nice if they had included a new world with it.

  • So good

A lot of content, a lot of new features, a lot of everything! Thanks EA, you were better than now.
