About this product

Product Information

This spin-off of the popular X-FILES television show is a decidedly more comedic take on conspiracy theory, featuring three hacker geniuses with limited social skills who often came to the aid of Sgt. Scully and Lt. Mulder. John Byers (Bruce Harwood), Melvin Frohike (Tom Braidwood), and Richard Langly (Dean Haglund) are on a mission to fight all manner of corporate and government intrigue, using their superior technological acumen and tricked-out equipment. They also put out a small publication, intended to educate the masses about these matters, which unfortunately enjoys a less-than-healthy circulation. The group, always short on money, acquires a benefactor in the form of one Jimmy Bond (Stephen Snedden), a wealthy but somewhat dense young man who is sympathetic to their cause. The Gunmen are also plagued by the wily and beautiful Yves Adele Harlow (Zuleikha Robinson), who is always a step ahead of the boys, and possesses looks and financial resources, in addition to hacking skills equal to the their own. This collection includes the pilot episode, as well as "Like Water for Octane," "Madam, I'm Adam," "Diagnosis: Jimmy," and "All About Yves."

X-Files, The Lone Gunmen and Millennium

If you are an X-Files fan The Lone Gunmen and Millennium are 2 sets of series that you can not do without. These are a great set of series for the paranormal and unsolvable investigative mind. A MUST SEE for the conspiracy theorist or profiler mentality. They complete the X-Files by filling in where the x-files FBI can not go and see things from a different perspective while solving the crimes

  • Not what I expected but good - for Fans of X-Files

The spin-off from the X-files is interesting BUt it is also campy in a lot of ways. It centers around the three characters from the X-files and it has a few moments when it seems like the people from the X-files are taking center stage. Those moments pass quickly, however, and a person has to be aware that the show, lasting 1 season, was not a success because of a lot of things - including this. Still, it is entertaining. What you have here is what you see in a lot of spin-offs. It references the stuff in the main show but it is not what the show was. The one thread that makes it constant is the paper they write, The Lone Gunmen, is here and the episodes are them trying to put together columns. Some of the things that happen are good in it, too, but they do not have that Chris Carter ...

  • Great spin off

The Lone Gunmen centered around the three characters of The Lone Gunmen; Melvin Frohike, John Fitzgerald Byers and Richard Langly, a group of "geeky" investigators who ran a conspiracy theory magazine. Unlike The X-Files, whose story lines dealt mainly with supernatural creatures and government alien conspiracies, episodes of The Lone Gunmen generally featured more down to Earth stories, such as cheating husbands, corporate crime, arms-dealers, and escaped Nazis. The show had a light atmosphere and focused heavily on physical comedy. The trio were often aided but mostly hindered by a mysterious thief named Yves Adele Harlow. Her alias is an anagram for Lee Harvey Oswald. In the pilot episode an unintentional foreshadowing of the September 11, 2001 attacks, the plot of the March 4, 2001 ...

  • Tremendous idea with tons of potential that went WAY wrong. Such a shame.

What a joke! I cannot believe how "bad" this show really is. And its a dirty filthy shame because the potential for this show was exponential. As a major X-Files fan (that's an understatement; I'm actually an X-Files fanatic), I was super excited to find out about this show starring 3 of my favorite characters from the X-Files. It sounded like a wonderful idea to take the Lone Gunmen and give them their own show. The thought of another show in the vein of the X-Files starring 3 central characters from the X-Files had me shrieking with anticipation. The possibility for more addictive and thrilling science fiction, more in-depth and reality-altering government conspiracies, more tenacious and lovable characters, and more mind-bending universal secrets revealed was a dream come true! And with ...

  • The Lone Gunmen Ride Again

Oddly enough, I was never a fan of the X Files, but when this Spinoff series came out, I was glued to my seat. It was sad to see it barely made a full season before getting cancelled, and once again Fox gave up on something I truely enjoyed watching. It was nice to have the X Files episode included which finished the story off, and crushed any hopes of bringing the series back. This series stood out for a few reasons, it offered a wide array of high tech gadgets and gizmos, a great cast that appeared to work well together, and humor ranging from slapstick to even intelligent (the monkeys banging on keyboards while shakespear was eminanting from one computer was classic). All in all, it was great to see this series made it out on DVD, and would make a fine addition to any ...
