    Renewing a Youthful Enthusiasm

    It's the Lord of the Rings. What more can I say? I am an old boomer, and I read this book many times in my teen years. It's been about 49 years since I've read it, and I have to say, Tolkien hooked as soon as I started. Grabbed my attention in the introduction. Now I must finish the book! This book is all three books in one volume. I believe it is a book club edition. That's fine with me. The price was low and the shipping fast. Some might find a heavy, thick volume awkward, but I'm OK with it.

    a 3-In-1 Special Edition of the Lord of The Rings

    This series of Book, which must include The Hobbit as a prequel, are in my opinion, some of the finest fantasy writing in history. Tolkien created a world in all its complexities. Its peoples, customs, languages, dress, interactions between races and to anchor it all a deep and rich back history to ground his stories in. I remember reading these books to my daughter when she was a child and she delighted in the characters. Their personalities, interactions and great deeds. I find myself at least once a year reaching for these books to re-read and each time I do I unpeel another layer of the complexity of the story which just increases my enjoyment. I would recommend obtaining this in three seperate volumes for ease of handling and reduced wear on the spine. In one volume it is a ...

    The Lord of the Rings in my opinion is the best fantasy series ever written. J. R. R. Tolkien elaborately created a world with such detailed history, complexity and consistency that you are completely drawn into the story. There is no detail that is forgotten in these stories and the descriptions of characters, places, battles and situations are extremely rich and vivid. The story starts off with an unusually eccentric hobbit (Bilbo Baggins) preparing to celebrate his "eleventy-first" birthday. "Bilbo was very rich and very peculiar, and had been the wonder of the shire for sixty years, ever since his remarkable disappearance and unexpected return.     Sturdy Copy of The Classic.
