Trail shoe / aqua shoes are not as beefy as the photo may suggest. The sole is still very light weight and probably wouldn't stop a stout cactus needle as I had hoped. They seem to be well made and have a nifty draw string lace system that I didn't notice in the photos (thought they were just strings).
