Highly Recommended for Lab Use
This is a descent 2.1MP camera from SONY with a tread and very good quality, reversable LCD screen. OK, it is fairly old and large compared to new products, but If you want to use it for a imaging system mounted ona microscope, as I did, then this is a fairly good option. The DC wall adapter can be used to power it as it has a DC-in input and good vieo quality.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-s50 camera
I bought this camera to continue the same convenient way of taking great pictures, which I was accustomed to with DSC-S30! Besides I get larger picture format (1600x1200), which translates into greater resolution and picture quality, while having the very same (one of the best on the market!) large real lens instead of almost invisible droplet of glass, what is "fashionable" now, but what obviously does not contribute to picture quality! Very little of spherical aberration is negligible!!! At the same time I still have a camera, which fit perfectly into the hand of grown man, with all moving parts covered by sturdy shell, with excellent and in my opinion absolutely necessary feature of flip-screen, which lets you take pictures from virtually any position, even from around the corner and ... I bought this camera to continue the same convenient way of taking great pictures, which I was accustomed to with DSC-S30! In my opinion there is no any need for optical viewfinder in digital cameras, which can translate into lower overall cost of product!!! It is very sad that Sony dropped the line designed with such a great philosophy coming from experience of many generations of camera users and manufactured with such a quality!!! I expected the company to release new models of the same camera with even better (and bigger) Zeiss or Leica lens with flip screen a must and compatible with all MemoryStick formats! I was disappointed with short lived 707 and 717 models, which were very expensive and except of the lens quality they were NOT as flexible and convenient in use as DSC-S30 and DSC-S50 models! There is still time and market for DSC-S70 or even 90 models! Go ahead SONY!!!

Just What I Needed
My eBay mentor suggested that I search eBay for a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S50 2.1 Megapixel, an older Sony camera that he had found on eBay last year. This is a great camera with a flip-up view finder for my old eyes and great 6X focus for those close-ups that I need for my eBay pictures. It is a little larger than the newer digital camera's but that is a feature needed to help steady my hand. Really great camera for taking large pictures under 1 MB! Perfect for e-mail and taking short mpeg videos for e-mailing to people too. Long battery life! It is the best camera I have ever owned. It also comes with a flip screen so you may take photos of yourself with family and know what the picture will look like before it snaps the picture! Perfect camera for uploading to a blogger. Best series of cameras I've ever owned!
Excellent close ups and outdoor photos. Prints awesome 4X6's and 5X7's. The swivel LCD screen lets you take perfect self portraits with the timer. I have owned a Polaroid and Olympus digital cameras before this one and ever since I got the Sony, I am hooked! I just purchased a DSC-W50 now and was very sad to put my DSC-S50 up for auction, but I know it'll give as much joy to the new owner as I have had with it!Excellent close ups and outdoor photos.
