About this product

Product Information

To create an amazing groove, look no further than the Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret guitar pedal. This high-quality device gives guitarists the ability to achieve some of the most sought after rock sounds. From warm blues tones to roaring guitar riffs, this guitar pedal can produce a variety of styles and tones from your amp. This Marshall-inspired distortion device is sure to take your guitar playing to the next level. In the days of classic rock, Marshall stacks were the key to achieving that legendary sound. While many guitarists can't carry around a stack of Marshalls from gig to gig, they can recreate that classic style with the Dirty Little Secret. This device is built to be the foundation of any pedalboard, and it is sure to become the core of any guitarist's musical arsenal. The tonality created by this device is easy to adjust and calibrate. Simply add accessories like filters, boosters, and fuzzes to achieve the desired sound. This pedal provides players with several great modes. There is Super Bass, which best matches the response of the classic Marshall Super Bass. It creates a tone that hits the sweet spot between clean and dirty, which is reminiscent of the sound from vintage amps. It also enhances the effect of fuzz pedals. Guitarists are recommended to try it with a compatible fuzz pedal. This will create a luxurious, deep bass tone. It will also accentuate the lower-midrange band. For a gritty vintage sound, Super Lead is the way to go. The Super Lead mode helps guitarists achieve the harmonics and sensitivity of a Marshall Super Lead amp. It offers higher gain than the other modes. Its gain also has a wider range. It goes from JCM800-type levels to classic Plexi sounds. With a few simple knob twists, guitarists can use the SL to create a wide variety of musical styles. Go from a simple strum to an ear-piercing wail in seconds flat with the SL function. This feature epitomizes rock 'n' roll, and it places a heavy emphasis on loud riffs and heavy thump. The Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret guitar pedal isn't a two-channel pedal. Instead, it's two pedals for the price of one. The two primary modes offer guitarists distinctly different sounds. When guitarists switch from one to the other, both stack and gain stage parameters change. This is how the device provides such an authentic, Marshall-style response. Guitarists will discover this when they start to adjust the Tone Stack, the other mode offered by the Dirty Little Secret. When a guitarist toggles between SL and SB, the stack circuits are totally reconfigured. This ensures that this pedal exactly reproduces the effects of classic amps. This pedal also has an internal presence trimmer, which adjusts the overall high-frequency response. There is a master knob as well, which gives guitarists control over the total output level. A 9-18VDC power adapter powers this Catalinbread device. For guitarists in search of the perfect British Bassman vibe, the Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret pedals are the way to go.

Good distortion pedal to run into a clean sounding amp

A little darker then a JCM 900, But delivers a good Marshall like tone through an original issue Blues Deluxe at lower volume settings. Allows me to play smaller venues without having to haul a Marshall head and 2x12 cab that needs to be turned up loud to sound good

  • I would defiantly recommend this pedal

This is a great pedal for those ZZTOP, AC/DC type Marshall sounds. I have a nice Peavey Delta Blues amp, but was looking for a way to get a Marshall tone for a few hundred dollars. This pedal does that. The thing that impressed me the most is the touch sensitivity. Picking dynamics really shine with this pedal. The pedal does require a bit of playing around with to get it to sound right. what I found is I needed to use this pedal with the dirty channel of my Delta Blues, but have that channel set pretty clean. The Clean channel of my amp was a bit too bright and harsh sounding when using this pedal. I would defiantly recommend this pedal. I am sure a really Marshall 18W combo would sound better, but for $170 this pedal is a close second.

  • Dead useful.

My model is an MKII. I play EL 84 amps and teles and strats, modern and classic country and classic rock. I have pretty good stage experience with maybe 20 different dirt pedals. I mostly use light to medium gain overdrive into a clean amp but I found that I was not quite getting there for ZZ Top, Zep and the occasional foray into 80s hair metal. Hey, a guy's gotta make a livin'. I really like this pedal. Like, really. When pushed with overdrive it is fat, full, very musical and still quite articulate. Complex chords don't get lost in mush but it drives like a mo. It is designed to be a Marshall in a box. It sure gets my rig into that territory. This pedal and a Barber 1/2 Gainer could get me through any gig.

  • A flavor all its own. Great pedal for the right player.

My primary goal in shopping for an overdrive was transparency. I was looking for a pedal that took the original tone of my amp and simply added gain and boosted the signal a bit, but the key was that it not change the overall tone. I heard several on line demos of the DLS and thought it sounded really nice. In fact it is a really solid overdrive pedal, but it isn't transparent. It definitely shifts the tonality of the original signal to something completetly different. Not "bad", just a different EQ structure. It seemed to thin out a bit, adding a great amount of high end to the original signal while providing the increased gain that I was looking for. I tried it for a short while and used it on a couple gigs, but in the final analysis, it was not my flavor. So, for that reason only, I ...

  • Dirty Dog transforms your sound!!

Really good distortion two different styles both sound very much like the Marshall circuit if you want to sound like classic bands like AC/DC this pedal screams rock blues!
