    Compact with excellent features,

    This is my second HX300, I won't go into the features because they are freely available to peruse in the item description, and there are many, but worth an extra mention is the very loud speaker which is great in busy/noisy surroundings . I'm a dockmaster at a popular weekend spot in Miami and this radio will last about 14 hours per charge, that's 12 monitoring, and 2 hours transmitting. As the battery ages this will drop to about 10 hours, 8 monitoring and 2 transmitting per charge. I purposly chose the HX300 from previous experience, its a great all round VHF radio with excellent features, the usual high Japanese quality, it's rugged, and compact. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that after about 3 years with the 1st one either the battery or charging system quit. Still at ...

    Marine Radio good value

    I got this to replace a West Marine high end one that worked well but had a nicad battery that no longer functioned for very long. Nicads do not seem to last overtime and now the WM company did not sell replacements. This one I got from EBAY has a lithium battery. It works fine and I am happy with it. Battery life is excellent. I wist it had an analog dial though for on off and volume and for squence... like the radio on my boat. I would prefer that than the way they have you adjust this here. But that is a minor thing. Overall very pleased...works well it was a good price I got too.

    compact and floats

    The standard horizon hx300 seems to be a really good marine radio to have for emergencies. Works great. Don't have a real need for a radio but wanted one for safety.
