    Kept my Interest

    I read in just a few days. Was curious why the church stepped in to ban the movies years ago. While the books are just a story, I appreciate an author who has his eyes open to the way things are when compared to real life. Church goes after people to silence them in book, church silences movies being made in real life...the list goes on. Great book! Definitely recommend. Already passed it on to the next reader.

    The Subtle Knife

    This is the second in Pullman's His Dark Materials series. It introduces Will from our universe as well as travel between the intermingled universes. He meets Lyra (The Golden Compass) in a universe over run with soul eating Specters and acquires the title tool which enables him to cut through to other universes. Lyra devotes herself to his quest to find Will's long lost father and learns more about her own parents' schemes and the danger she faces. I had first read The Amber Spyglass and found the children so enchanting and the other univeses so imaginatively created thatI wished to encounter them again.

    Typical 2nd book of trilogy

    I think most trilogies follow a pattern - the first book is usually the best, the second book is usually all over the place, and the third book attemps to wrap it all up. This series is no different; this book is definitely all over the place. But it's still a good adventure. It's really heavily anti-Church in this book though.

    Great Book!

    When I was a teenager, this book was great. Read in series with the Golden Compass and the Amber spyglass, it is an exciting series. Great for young readers, and older readers alike. :) One of my favorites as a kid for sure!

    The Subtle Knife

    This is the second book of "His Dark Materials" trilogy by Philip Pullman. I'm reading the whole trilogy. What an imagination! What a trip! Though sometimes billed as a book for children and/or teens, it's equally exciting for adults.
