Firkins' 1990 Shrapnel debut album won him international accolades which led to his being voted Guitar Player's Best New Talent of the Year, just under Eric Johnson; his 2nd album, Chapter 11, was a critic's favorite. His lyrical guitar style has been compared to Jeff Beck, Joe Walsh and David Gilmour, but Firkins' amazing faux slide technique puts him in a class all his own.
