        1776 The Film

        I saw this movie in the theater when first released and at the time I was not a fan of musicals I greatly enjoyed it. I had seen it on television but the newly restored directors cut has great clarity and no commercial interuptions. It gives a lighthearted and fun account of one of the greatest events in history and still gives it a lot of gravity at the moment of the ratification of the Declaration of Independance. I highly recomend this film.

        Horrible Beyond Belief!

        Music was intolerable! I love most musicals, but this was AWFUL! Much profanity and taking God's name in vain. Made founding fathers look trite and silly. Unbelievably bad. Couldn't finish it. Will shred it so no one else wastes money on it if I were to donate it.

        Wonderful, historical and entertaining presentation of our Independence Day!

        I watch this movie every July 4th and love it each and every time! Now that I own my own copy, this will be easier than ever. It takes some liberties with the personal facts of the main figures behind the creation of The Declaration of Independence, but the main story and the struggles that the founding fathers endured to create The Declaration of Independence is worth every minute of time to watch this talented actors tell one of the most important stores of our great country.

        Not David McCullough’s 1776.

        Probably the only musical to make you dwell on the profound questions that lead the Founding Fathers to separate from England. Their great discomfort with the question of slavery—they couldn’t decide to end it or turn it lose—resonates with today’s issues.

        A Great Musical

        Excellent movie, I owed a VHS tape of it years ago and now I have this version with scenes I never saw before because of Director's Cut. Great value, speedy delivery and something if you enjoy Musicals to add to your collections.
