        The essential Garland recording

This release was the most successful LP of Judy Garland's career and topped the U.S. charts for 13 weeks in 1961. All that made her great is here: the energy, her rapport with the audience, the over-the-top style on the fast tunes and some very classy ballads, too. This release supposedly includes everything that happened at Carnegie Hall that night: a false start on "Come Rain or Come Shine," Judy introducing composer Harold Arlen ("Come Rain or Come Shine," "The Man That Got Away," "Stormy Weather" and "Over The Rainbow"), a "break in the action" when Judy leaves the stage to get a glass of water, a couple of songs from the Al Jolson era that may not be "politically correct" today and some problems with the microphone. • A Deserved Classic

I had heard about this album for many years before finally buying a copy. (I have the 2001 reissue cd that's the complete concert in order). I would recommend this to any fans of jazz and pop standards.

      • Pretty good overall

The jewel case doesn't close tightly and the disk has one tiny skip in it during some applause. Overall, good quality for a used item. Great value.
